The root cause of the economic problem in the US is greed. Congress is corrupt. They lie to themselves and each other so routinely, they beleive their own lies. The biggest lie and source of corruption in congress is campaign funding. Anyone who believes favors and legislation arent bought by campaign contributions is naive.

Resolving that is a problem easily resolved, by making illegal any contribution to any political campiagn, OR accepting money from any individual, corporation, or group. Take away the money, then lobbiest will only be able to succeed by making a convincing arguement to a politician.

OK, back to today.

Protesting is noble and admirable. It makes a point. However, to make a corporation or investor take notice, you have to stop feeding them. The solution is embargo.

IMMEDIATELY stop feeding the large businesses and corporations. According to the US Census, literally half of the people employed in the USA are employed by small business (less than 500 employees in a company).

Make it a point to STOP making purchases from public corporations or large businesses. Instead of grabbing a burger at a franchise chain, keep walking or driving to a local neighborhood restaurant, luncheonette, or food truck. Want a cup of coffee? Pass on the giant coffee franchise storefront and buy for a local. Groceries? Patronize your local IGA or family owned grocer in place of multinational giants. Pass the big box home store and go to the local hardware store. Pull all of your money out of the giant banks and put it into a a community mutual bank.

You get the picture. Hit them where it hurts, non-violently, passively, and effectively.. Ghandi like. MLK like.

Ignore any big business and don't even consider giving them your business unless there is NO choice.

This organization should make a website or blog to post choices (big public company supplier versus local small business supplier) regionally to help you, the majority and the consumer, know what their choices are.

This position wil lbe laughed at by the big box stores, big oil companies, big banks, etc. They'll laugh for a month. Then, after a fiscal quarter of declining revenues, the laughter will turn to tears.

Once the large banks and corporations lose their power (meaning ability to sway congress), real reform can begin.

Greed is a given for any society, so while being the root cause, it is not an explanation for the current situation.

One of societies duties is to regulate greed, always has been and always will. The problems we are facing now are the result of too much lenience towards greed, because all involved ( large corporations, politicians, think-tanks) all benefited from that greed at the expense of the commoner.
