The primary role of government in a liberal democracy like ours is to protect the moneyed class from the wrath and roar of the rest of us. Every other function of government is related to this core function or is secondary.....If you think long and hard this is what you will realize.
What's a supper rich person? Someone who has dinner twice a day?
Exactly.
The tax breaks prove it. They want to pay less tax, but benefit more from taxes (police protection, roads for their products, bail-outs, an educated workforce etc).
This about it. The military budget never gets cut in any real way because the rich always need more protection. As they rob and pillage more they need more protection. That's the way the world works.
