The right to bear arms is something we should never give up. It always gives us the capability to fight back if things ever get to a point where it becomes a violent revolution and a Facist 1% controlled government attempts to over take our democracy.
The first thing facist governments will do is try to make gun ownership illegal and remove the one last resort option to push back.
Look at North Korea as a good example.
If marshal law were really imposed, there is little you could do other than hope that your fellow Americans in uniform wouldn't carry out their orders. The kinds of weapons that have been developed in recent years are frightening. They are non-lethal, which means people like them better, but they essentially cancel out any chance of really doing anything that a crowd would try. All kinds of weird sound weapons, things that make you unable to maintain your balance, thing that make you vomit uncontrollably, there's a spray that turns pretty much any surface as slick as wet ice.
