I see many complain that the rich get more tax breaks on here than the poor. This is not true. Percentage wise the rich pay far more than the poor do and most of the poor gets federal and state tax refunds/grants. If you were a CEO who started your company from scratch and worked 16 hours a day to get it started and maintain the business and became a millionaire you wouldnt want to just give your money away. Many on this site make absolutely no sense. Life is not fair but we all potentially have the possibility of becoming millionaires it just takes hard work, resourfulness and of course luck. Most people do not try to go to medical school and get their juris doctor and form their own law firm. Most millionaires are first generation and earned it. Why should everyone else get to just take the rich's money???????
Yes, you're right. The rich pay large amounts of money in taxes.
However, the progressivity of the tax code actually REVERSES for those at the very top wealth and income levels (the upper .1%). Please check the tax code. How is this fair to the rest of us, who pay at HIGHER rates than these select few individuals, some of whom have asked for this to be changed (Warren Buffett, for one)?
We should all know by now that the collective net worth of the 400 richest Americans is nearly 2 TRILLION dollars. It is not advisable to give that much power to that few people. This condition is analogous to the absolute power possessed by dictators. "Power corrupts, and absolute power corrupts absolutely," I've heard it said.
Everyone needs to pay. Rich, poor and middle class. When I was playing center field for the twinkles, I paid up the ass. Now I am broke, and I still pay up the ass. It never seems to end.
