Occupy Wall Street (OWS) needs to defeat the conservatives’ attempts to stereotype OWS as a radical, and socialist class ware-fare. Great many movements of the world were polluted by money and power this way (the 1% is astute playing this game).
So OWS needs to focus developing argument on why it is on the right side of the principles of economics and capitalism, which means efficient allocation of capital. Real capitalism mandates that capital should be allocated to where real goods and services are produced (the farm, factories and middle-class), and not to the people who create junk papers to defraud investors.
Collusion, political nexus and corruption are not the mandates of capitalism. It destroys real capitalism. Wall Street pays large sum to economists to twist economic arguments that support greed and despicable malpractices.
Ironically people who are doing this are themselves dissatisfied with the system (similar to the social condition that led to French revolution). But the system is so large and epidemic that no one person (even the CEO’s) can’t reverse the vicious cycle (trust this from an insider). So the weak link in OWS' opposition is individual dissent against systemic oppression.
OWS is an incredible movement. If it can avoid from being radicalized and politicized, and focus more on correct economic argument, it can win the support of many economists and intellectuals, who can help expose the corruption and fraud of today’s crony capitalism from inside, which will OWS an unstoppable force.
another comment gone huh? DICTATORS!
