Many of the changes on the list are good. But that is not fixing the problem. We can demand changes to all kinds of things IN the system. But this is only 1/2 the problem.
The other 1/2 of the problem involves changing the system. The entire political system needs changed. We will be back here in a year, in 5 years, in 10 years to again demand changes. Because we are not changing the system only what is contained in the system.
To fix this problem you need to change the way politics are done completely. I made my own list of demands but the difference is several of my demands change the system. They make it harder for this to happen again. Actually nearly impossible.
This is what needs to be done. We need to change how the (political)system operates and THEN change the aspects within that system that we want to change.
Otherwise we are just feeding a dead horse. We must change the political system then change that which the system created to what we want.
We would still be a representative republic but with a lot more actual transparency and a lot more representation. It would also be much harder for politicians to play politics, which is at least a decent portion of our problem.
Just get the money out! We need publicly funded campaigns and elections. Then we can fix everying else. 1% buys their representation. 99% are left with the scraps.
"demand" to change the system? Do you expect a Congressional vote?
What if voters got to VOTE on a revolution? I'm already an FEC registered Presidential candidate http://www.JeffBlock2012.com
no more closed door meetings between politicians and lobbyists
the discussions should be publicly broadcast on the net
In my demands lobbying is illegal and should be. The only groups of people that politicians should be interested in is the ones in their district. Not the unions, Big oil, Automakers, etc.

representatives are meant to represent a district to the rest of the world
Yes, they represent the collective position of their constituents. However, in practice, no one really does this at the moment.
no one keeps track of the collective positions of the constituents
LOL, good point
I agree ... one on the key goals should be to change the election system (funding and electoral college).
