Forum Post: The Police are not OWS enemy

The police have and will support the protestors. They still have a job to do but let them know that you know inside they support you. I know, I am a cop and so are many in my family. We are union. Just ask them what Bloombucks has done to them.

police and union is prob the worst mix you can possibly imagine. How many criminal police officers stay on the job because they are protected by the unions? A lot. Read Radley Balko at huffington post

In Philadelphia, the police are doing a spectacular job with the protesters . They manage it well. No confrontations. When the group wants to march to a protest site, the police escort them in an orderly manner. So far, so good. There were a few small incidents...in solidarity with protesters in other cities. But the protesters should learn from the protests of the past. In the 60s we hated the war and the warrior...police were pigs. Time have changed now. We hate the war but honor the warrior. The police are no longer pigs. They are us. They are the 99%. This movement should remain non violent and cooperative. We should respect the laws and work with the police. Otherwise our message will be lost in the conflict. Additionally, we should be setting our sights on congress. Wall st is as greedy as congress allows it to be. Congress keeps shooting down jobs bills. Congress refuses to raise taxes on the 1%. The frustrations of the 99 are valid. But we are delivering the message to the wrong addresses . Occupy the capitol...peacefully and within the law. Don't take it out on the police. They are the 99%...and so are we!

Along with the homeless we need to convince the police to our cause . However they are being paid to be belligerent to OWS so that is going to very difficult. They come in groups however if we talk to them as an individual and then convince them we can slowly get most or all of the police force to our side if we repeat this process.

Privatization of the military to benefit the rich 1% see Eric Prince and Blackwater:

I'm bothered by the continued clashes between police and protesters, nationally. Police are meant to keep the peace, and protesters a meant to disrupt the status quo and make change, so the friction makes sense. But It Is Essential that the Police and Protesters do not Target Each other, but rather the Apathy of the rest of the 99% and the 1% who Perpetrate Injustices in the name of Capitalism.

While I tend to agree with your comments, it is not the time right now to attack police officers. They are a symptom of the underlying cause.

Yes you are right but don't forget police officers do not make a big salary. Why they work for so little is beyond me. And you are right there are many bad apples of police officers that are in it for the power trip. Arizona is proof of that.

Give the op the benefit of the doubt. He is an individual that is caught in the system and still must survive.

The problem is that a cop with a "conscience" is brainwashed to think differently that justifies the behavior.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

generalizations and ignorance should not be part of OWS. Not all cops are bad. Are all african americans bad like republicans try to make you think? Unions have not bankrupted any state. The politicians and wall street did that. The politicians make the rules.

You are right cops are brainwashed so they can ignore the corruption in the system and still effectively stop the corruption outside of the system.

The good cops you mention should ostracize the ones that perpetrated crimes against the demonstrators. Ostracize and isolate.

Close your bank account! If you care to win against the tyranny of highway robbers.

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 13 years ago

The "good" cops are not as aggressive as the "bad" cops so this becomes a battle that they avoid.

Then why criticize moderate Arab leaders when they don't decry the terrorists. we are all responsible. By action or inaction. But I do agree.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

I agree

Are you willing to support us when we do illegal activities like roadblocks? Would you be willing to give us a hand for this?

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

The police sometimes do not see everything. In addition, you should realize that we have higher ranks watching us that suck Bloombergs ass. We are in a tough predicament. We cannot come out and give you a hand. We are part of the 99%

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 13 years ago

Police officers must eventually grasp the reality of the system. They are being used by the powers that control them and it is the same with people serving the military. In the end they do not care about officers or soldiers, they claim that they do as long as you serve their purpose.

Police officers do not make very much money so why on earth do they convince themselves that the law is not corrupt when it clearly is.

[-] 1 points by RufusJFisk52 (259) 13 years ago

have you seen the govt pensions and retirement plans most police officers get? Google it.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

I agree. We have been and are being used. Why do you think the republicans are trying to privatize the military.

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 13 years ago

Power of course!

Well, it's going to get ugly pretty soon. Have fun cleaning the mess.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

Just doing our job like the sanitation workers will do. Good luck and we are behind you. Fuck Bloomberg and the 1%

Very Interesting exchange. Guess what charities have just come off my donation list. Your loss will be others gain. Thanks for letting me know how you feel.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

who cares what a corporate shill thinks. And we will gain through real grass roots not Koch funded "grass roots". The people are not behind the tea party or the 1%.

[-] 0 points by MeMyselfandI (85) 13 years ago

Like I said... Thanks. You are right you don't care what I think and the benefit funds I have previously supported don't need my money. It will go elsewhere. Sure hope your children never need the support.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

I am fine as well as the rest of us. You need to worry about sleeping at night...thous shall not steal....thou shall not kill. The 1% steal and kill with their illegal wars and thievery from the 99%

[-] 0 points by MeMyselfandI (85) 13 years ago

LOL! No worries... I sleep just fine. Thanks for your concern.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

greed greed greed greed greed

[-] 0 points by MeMyselfandI (85) 13 years ago

Yes, I agree. Your demand to take something from others that you didn't earn and that doesn't belong to you is in fact quite greedy. Enjoy your day.

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 13 years ago

You have no clue what this movement is about and you make this very clear by your statements.

[-] 1 points by madeinusa (393) 13 years ago

No one is more guilty than the 1%.

Proverbs 11:24-25 One man gives freely, yet gains even more; another withholds unduly, but comes to poverty. A generous man will prosper; he who refreshes others will himself be refreshed.

Barb,

It appears this "movement" is about rape, theft, violence, vandalism and drug use. That is made very clear by the actions of the mob.
