The perimeter of zuccatti park is approximately 786 feet. That requires about 393 shields of 2' They cost about 50-70 dollars. For 48dollars per shield. That's 24000 The point is for 24000 dollars the organization can protect it's perimeter. Not a bad use of American money donated to an American cause From an American manufacturer. Plan b.
Terrible idea. For the same price you can get a good 50-60 decent battle rifles, around 200 older surplus bolt action rifles, or you could use that money to feed homeless people because the core protester movement isn't about to pick up a shield, let alone a firearm. It would be a complete waste of money because equipment is only useful if you have willing operators. A majority of the New York protesters (and that goes for protesters in most Northern cities) would run home before picking up a weapon, even a defensive one.
Even if you wanted to enclose the perimeter (which wouldn't be the tactically intelligence approach in this situation), there are much cheaper ways. Barbed wire is inexpensive and can be deployed quickly. The problem with establishing a perimeter in that area is you risk the Custer effect; you trap yourself inside and you are ultimately at the mercy of the more equipped police forces. Not a good idea, especially for a group of people that largely wouldn't understand how to react in such a situation.
are u an idiot? go back to waco
great. it would last all of one or two hours, end in a riot, all of your shields would be confiscated, and you'd be out all of that money just that fast.
You can't protect a perimeter with shields, ask any insurgent in the middle east.
