Nor do the people yield their sovereignty to the corporations that pour hundreds of millions of dollars into campaign elections.
That is what this OWS movement is all about.
The people insist on remaining fully informed and fully in control over the legislative bodies they have created.
This movement is about We the People.
And We do resist corporate and moneyed influence and effort to make this a less perfect union.
Let's start with campaign finance reform.
End revolving door between DC and corporate board rooms.
The reform you are looking for: “For any public company, only real person shareholders, selected by a pure lottery of shares owned, may nominate directors.” Control is returned to the people, not Wall Street nor Congress.
Today, CEO's nominate cronies as directors who give out out-sized salaries, bonuses and take risks with our money. If two candidates were nominated by real people for each director slot there would be board quality, caution with our own money and much less need for government oversight and influence.
Money from corporations and the wealthy are able to drown out the voices of the millions and millions of people in this country. That is what I am talking about.
Government and corporations are two separate but equally necessary components of our society.
Unfortunately, corporations and moneyed elite have corrupted the workings of government.
Government no longer represents the people.
We, the People, need to take back control of our government.
We, the People, need to reign in the sharp practices of corporations.
