The unemployed and UNDER-employed working-age is at 16%. Why does the media soft-soap us with the bull shit unemployment number? Why do they do it? ASK THEM WHY?!
U6 is a far better gauge of unemployment than U3. I think this probably goes back to the 1980's and also it was published about the time that the BLS (Bureau of Labor Statistics) switched to "hedonic" pricing models to report CPI. See John Williams "ShadowStats.com" for a lengthier discussion.
Agreed! If you get a chance for media exposure ask WHY are we being fed the BS U3 number instead - when we have people with jobs below the poverty level? The U6 should be part of the discussion, in my opinion.
Its more in the 22% range. They do not count long term umemployed.
I think it's irresponsible journalism. They should report both numbers, don't you think?
yep
