There are to many people that are NOT violent, yet are given disproportionate prison terms just because of possession or sale of marijuana. We all should know that marijuana is the most widely used illegal drug in the U.S.A. The D.E.A. is a crock-of-shit taking drugs "off" the streets only for those same drugs to find their way on the streets. We see it everyday in the news of some some small-time dealer being arrested and charged, where are the King Pin's being taken down?

There not being taken down because they are the ones who are neighbors and fellow country club members to our congressmen. If we can find Osama, be deemed to have the best military in the world- and we can't stop drugs from coming into our country :/? We see also all the time big name celebrities getting caught with all types of drugs yet NEVER are given the sentencing any average person is given.

If we could cut the cost the prison system is costing us taxpayers, maybe then education in America could be free(NO STUDENT LOANS)!!! Light that damn BLUNT!

I AM APART OF THE 99%!!!

Maybe legalization could become part of the movement after corporate personhood is done away with. After all, it's at the behest of big pharma that MJ is illegal in the first place, which of course comes from corporate personhood.

I think this issue should not be a part of this particular movement. There is so much more to fight for here than marijuana - focusing on drug legalization is a quick way to have the movement crumble. Not that this issue doesn't have its own merits, it's just not even close to some of the more important (and unifying) points being brought up by OWS

legalize all victimless "crimes"

If not legalized, it needs to be lowered in drug classification.

I think it is important to keep drug legalization in the context of the CIA making them illegal in order to jack up prices and control the trade. There is no war on drugs, but merely a war on independent distributors of drugs to keep the CIA black budget dollars secure. It is well known that the CIA spread the crack and there isn't a lot of point talking about legalization questions without pointing towards the real distributors and the reasons for them being illegal in the first place. Something useful to note is that drugs were not illegal until 1930 or so, after the prohibition amendment was repealed and the oligarchs no longer had a monopoly on the alcohol trade.

It would be nice if it was legal(I don't smoke). We can make it, regulate it, and tax it. Then use the money to protect our border.

I agree it should be legalized, but it shouldn't be part of this movement, because it alienates the majority. Just think, though, if we get rid of corporate control of our "democracy", we can actually have a vote on this.

We actually could.
