Conservatives would have us believe that individual competition for property is the human nature with which we are born. But is it? Are we lone hunters, like tigers in the jungle? I don't think so. Conservatives are more like a cannibalistic pride of lions that preys on their own species, to the detriment of all. Decent human beings are merely sometimes quarrelsome and jealous troops of chimpanzees that generally cooperate for the common good. In any case, we are social animals and individuality is not the most important trait supplied by our natural origin and development.

When President Biden calls on us for healing and unity, he's asking us to put our community before our individuality. Community well being before individual self interest is repugnant to conservatives, though their wealth and livelihoods are dependent on the cooperation of many. They don't comprehend the paradox that sickens their minds. There can be no healing in America until conservatism is dead. Conservatism won't die until its rich perpetrators have been taxed out of existence.

The roots of the neo liberal conservatism that afflicts America today, and to which Donald Trump and Republicans so flagrantly appeal, are found in the reaction of James Buchanan of Virginia to Brown v. Board in the 1950s. The cynical appeal to racism at the heart of conservatism is an indirect way to protect the hoards of the wealthy that contribute to the debt and/or poverty of the rest of us.

The taxation of the rich that we must have will never happen until conservatism no longer has the power to obstruct the well being of many in service of the few. The necessity to compromise with conservatives precludes the possibility of an ultimate solution to our worst problems. Their power is maintained with the support of the dull weak minds of the third of the population who are the racist, misogynist, homophobic fascists of the type who stormed the capital at Trump's urging on January 6, 2021.
