I think we should encourage our elected legislators to vote in favor of President Obama's current Jobs bill. It will be voted on tonight or tomorrow. It will create or preserve 400,000 jobs for teachers, police, fire fighters, and first responders. The cost is $447 Billion. The bill is designed to be paid for with a 1/2 of one percent tax on all income above a million dollars a year, (which means it won't cost the 95-99% a dime.
It seems this is a no-brainer, 400,000 good jobs for good people would be a real boost to the economy, but Republicans in the House and Senate are set to vote it down because it raises taxes on the rich. This should not be a partisan bill, but it is turning out that way. We don't have to treat it as partisan, it is class warfare, pure and simple. I think we should really get behind this bill.
Why will this stimulus bill work when the others before it have all failed? Want more jobs? Get the govt out of our markets, flatten the tax code, take the whacked off domestic energy production. Then all of you OWS folks could get back to work line the rest of us.
hummm, seems he said the same thing last time he asked for so much money to "simulate" the economy. We're still waiting for that one.....so you are saying "hey, let's give him more money to do something he already tried and it didn't work the first time"? Maybe the 2nd time is the charm?
I don't know how people can advocate for the US government to bring in more revenue considering how poorly it manages whatever it already takes in.
When he said, "We can train and educate more teachers!" Why the hell do we want to do that when THOUSANDS of teachers are currently have pay cuts, layoffs, and not to mention all the teachers that are currently out of work! We don't need more anything we need to put those teachers back in their positions that they have HELD FOR YEARS!
Well, it is 400,000 people spending their paychecks and buying homes and cars. I don't see how it could hurt anyone.
I'm guessing you might not know that in this bill is a provision that would give power to the Federal Government to access your cell phone number for the express purpose of collecting on delinquent student loans.

You have to read the bill to know what's in it.
The problem is because many people do not see jobs falling out of the sky from the last bill, they think it had no affect. I actually saw the jobs created. There were many jobs around me that were created. Including some much needed work on a dam that holds back a very large amount of water. Many roads and a few buildings had projects going on them that were all paid for with that money.
But then again my usual roaming area is about 25 mile radius around my house where many people may not leave the sq mile in their city or much more than that.
A bill to pay for more cops? Yea I guess we need more of them, forget iron workers and our failing infrastructure
Yeah because you can take everything the war-mongerer-in-chief takes to the bank right?!

You hit this one right on.... IT IS A NO-BRAINER. Anybody that thinks this tax bill would create any jobs whatsoever has got to be clinically insane. Even DEMOCRATS don't want this "bill" to pass. If all this government intervention is worth a damn, why didn't it work before with $800 BILLION.... round and round we go....
