Forum Post: The "I'm getting arrested" ap

So some guy developed an ap that with the push of a button you can send a custom message to emergency contacts. The premise being that if you are being arrested you can let friends or family know that you've been taken away by the cops and not missing or hurt somewhere etc....

My thought or concern is you might want to hit that ap before being arrested or have your phone in hand because digging in your pocket or trying to while being detained is probably not a smart move...I mean it is a reasonable concern for a cop that somebody they're hooking up is reaching into a pocket for an unknown object.

Side note this is not an opinion on the protest itself, but just a thought on the practicality of the ap and it's use during an arrest, although I'm sure there will be responses of people being "hypocritical" on owning a smart phone, and to the other side cops being "fascists" etc. etc.

That's a good point about reaching in one's pocket for a phone in front of cop.

I had someone call me from a paddy wagon tho, with handcuffs on. But that's not something one would want to count on being able to do, I think.

Well that example then maybe shows it has some usefulness, maybe the police to frisk and search as hard at protests like these so you could likely have your phone on you in the paddy wagon or something. Or even more likely let you keep your phone on ya for the ride downtown like your wallet, only a search for weapon and drugs. So I guess it could be quite practical.

I don't know the process I've never been arrested at a protest or a cop arresting protesters.

If someone is intelligent enough to build an App for That, why wouldn't they use that to build an App to help themselves? I just think it's ironic.

Because despite your username, you are in fact still confused about this movement and your delusion that it is a bunch of ignorant unemployed "hippies" who need to "help themselves" when in fact it is made up of a large number of creative & successful people who are tired of Wall St corruption and the unholy alliance between government, banks & mega-corporations in this country.

Well the dude's software company website says "Established in 1996, Q2 develops software for some of the most recognized brands in the world, and ones that are sure to be one day, always with a creative edge."

Although that app is the only one attributed to Q2, so it's probably developed with 2 purposes, something for his friends in a movement he supports in one way and also that it looks good on a resume or portfolio for his business, an example of what he or the company can do for clients.....

Thank you for the decent reply. Is it a free app? Just curious. I don't own a phone that supports apps.
