There are so many problems, where should I start? I'll just throw some of my concerns out there...we support you OWS...even if we can't be there with you because of jobs, family, and school, at least I support you. I'll do what I can.
It's not corporate greed guys and gals...It's our Govt. We give them the power, authority, and resources to maintain a free competitive market. They DON'T do this anymore. This is why corporate greed is so prevalent, because the corporations don't have consequences if they stuff the pockets of our politicians. WE are their consequence now. These politicians don't have US the PEOPLE in their best interest and this is where it ALL stems from. The MEDIA is just a TOOL for a corrupt system. I would love to hear a One-Percenter answer some of my questions:
How is it a "Global Economy" or free market, if everything is Made in China? How come the media is so deceiving? They don't have good intentions. The wrong people control the media. And how does FOX news even exist, they are completely fake? Education should be NON-PROFIT why is it so expensive?? Why does the Federal Reserve control our MONEY? We don't vote for these people!! And why can our Govt spend more than what they bring in? Whoever the Govt borrows from has a strong influence, right? Why does anyone shop at Wal-Mart? They have contributed to dumping and price fixing...thus destroying competitive American companies. I would love some responses...I'm trying to add some fuel to the FIRE!!!
Let's hold the Govt, the Media, the Federal Reserve, the Education systems, and anyone else accountable by having consumer responsibility!!! Wal-Mart succeeds because YOU, ME, or our FRIENDS and FAMILY shop there. Look at how Bank of America reacted to enough consumers. Our dollars are like mini-votes, let's support socially responsible companies and services!!!
Go to Wal-Mart, fill a cart with perishables(ice cream is good) and leave it somewhere in the store. If we all did things like this then maybe they would start being socially responsible. The elite want us divided and uneducated...Let's prove them wrong!!!! I would love some responses from other points of view out there. Whose house? Our house!
The 'OFFICIAL PETITION: Corporations are not persons', is posted. Please come and VOTE!
Absolutely!!! Well said. We WILL prove them wrong!!! No doubt in my mind!!! Just as soon as we inform the rest of the 99% of their slight of hand. It's a daunting task, I know, but we can do it, nay, we WILL do it!
So there is hope...
Of course! You know how big the smile on my face is right now?! :-D They won't even know what hit 'em. Don't be discouraged by the pessimistic, skeptical, naive or otherwise types of people out there. Be patient. Stick to your guns while trying to remain non-judgmental. Don't respond with impulsive emotional reactions. Use your intellect; intelligent rebuttals. Hit 'em where it hurts!
And, a pretty smart guy by the name of Gandhi once said, "BE the change you wish to see in the world."
How about an occupy wal mart? Yes, they have contributed to the problem, but even the local politicians that give them the zoning approvals are culpable.
True. I'm just your run of the mill Wal-Mart hater. I hate how our govt has sold us out WAY more.
Fortunately, you have the power to act. Of course, it will take millions of us, but have you ever heard of Article V of the constitution? I believe that will help you. Take a look at this forum. http://www.articlevconvention.org
Great point you make about dollars.
Most important of all: don't borrow!
Thanks HappyLove, check out "The Secret of Oz," by Bill Still if you get a chance. It's on YouTube...and there are some really good points in the documentary. Tell your friends!!
Typical right-wing tactic: Cheer on OWS, then steer them away from the 1%. Nice try.
I'm still laughing about your "typical right-wing tactic," claim. I have a ton reading to do for my economics class and you are not helping-yup I actually know what I am talking about sometimes Ms HitGirl. I am not a Teabagger.
A lot of righties use underhanded tactics, posing as lefties to steer anger away from the top 1%, and they are well-paid to do so. Maybe that's paranoid or overly subtle, but it's also true.
That is true, but not in this case.
Then we probably have common goals. It's sleepy-time here on the west coast so I'll say goodnight. I won't be interrupting your studies again until tomorrow.
I am so left you don't even understand. Wow, no wonder we get a bad reputation out there.
Haha. I'm not out there. I just happen to think that the people with ALL the money probably wield all the power. That isn't too difficult a concept for you, is it?
Do you know what the PEOPLE with ALL the money, refer to us as? THE BEAST. Do you know why?
... Because the only thing they're afraid of is the PEOPLE, THE MASSES, THE BEAST, coming to know who they are and what they're up to.
Forgiven, I agree. And it's frustrating.
Frustrating as it may be, I can only imagine how frustrated they must be right now - watching their worst nightmares come true... Peope everywhere protesting, building forums, blogs, tweets, discussing what's going on. Information Pandemonium! I tell you one thing, not a single one of them will sleep well tonight!
I don't think they are taking this that seriously quite yet. It's a beginning though. This movement needs more focus. One big idea, or at least some more solidarity. As someone from the outside looking in, I want a better focus. Corporate greed is all I hear about, but let's pick an underlying issue, like a flawed monetary policy. Let's boycott these companies and get more organized. Fortunately, things like this forum are bringing us together. It's a start, but there is soo much more work to do.
Further down on this page I posted:
Allright EVERYBODY, since we agree to MOSTLY agree, anyone want to start a petition? Say to,.. Remove the status of persons from corporations perhaps? Or legislate a thin line for all government officials to walk, if they intent to stay in office?
But I'd also like to add, given I know a few things about human psychology, they are very nervous. Too many free radicals. Too many possibilities they can't predict. Im not saying we have them shaking in their boots. But, I AM saying, too many people discussing too many things in too many places, when your entire operation relies on non-disclosure; is a very unsettling thing. And that, at the wry least, makes me feel better about where we stand!
What about people like Rupert Mudoch and the Kochs? Methinks you are using the politicians as convenient whipping boys.
Murdoch and the Kochs should be held accountable by our Govt. They should be taxed more, investigated, their monopolist companies broken up. And what is so convenient about blaming politics? The govt is supposed to keep people like this in check and they are not. This is where the problem starts. If the govt did what was best for us, then these guys couldn't do what they do.
There is some truth to that.
Thank you
