There is only one way to take our country back from the corporations and that is with tax payer funded elections. All candidates for public office would be banned from taking any donations from anyone including individuals, unions, special interest groups, corporations, even their own family. In this way all of our elected officials would belong to all of us, the people.

Also, if the office you are seeking is a full-time position you will live off of your salary only. If we pay you $170,000 a year to be a Senator that better be the number on your tax return. Elected officials can still talk to lobbyists and representatives of special interest groups, but if they ever take a penny from them, or any member of their family benefits in any way, even after leaving office, you go to jail for a long time.

Also, the idea of giving these guys free healthcare for life after just serving 6 years is rediculous.

There have been too many times corporations have given money to politicians to have a better outcome for their investors and stockholders, but not good for the country in general. We must do whatever is required to put a stop to this.

This will be an uphill battle because neither major party will be in favor of this. There are too many people who want to run for congress or the senate so they can get rich in one term. We will end this.

Every congress person and Senator spend at least 50% of their waking hours raising money for their next campaign in stead of do the work for the people. This will end it.

We need to elect only people who will vote for this major reform and if they don't we will occupy their offices, their homes, their cars, their garages, their lives until they see the light.

We should also have a website that relates elected officials with corporate campaign donations and the resulting favorable legislation passed that helps the corp. This activity should be clear in the light of day.

After we get this done, we can do anything.

Are we paying attention? This is important.

I see this, but money is very easy to hide. Therefore, you will never know the truth.

I know, this will not eliminate all mischief, but I think it will eliminate some people who only want to run for office for their own personal gain.

True. This is a good idea.

re>Also, if the office you are seeking is a full-time position you will live off of your salary only What about someone that owns a business or farm? They are excluded?

Yes they are. While you are working for the people all of your focus should be on that job. No attorneys and their private practice or any other business while also serving in the senate or the house or the executive.
