Forum Post: The faux IRS scandal & the real IRS scandal:

[Fixing this will shut down one of the 1%’s most powerful loopholes.]

Internal Revenue Code 501(c)(4) LAW
provides for exemption of:
“Civic leagues or organizations not organized for profit but operated
exclusively for the promotion of social welfare.
Local associations of employees, the membership of which is limited to the employees of a designated person or persons in a particular municipality and the net earnings of which are devoted
exclusively to charitable, educational, or recreational urposes”.

From 1959-1962, various IRS leaders changed the law {a totally illegal act } into:
…..organizations not organized for profit but operated
PRIMARILY for the promotion of social welfare…...

Since “primarily” was not defined, 501C4s have been allowed to spend as much as 60% of their anonymous money directly on POLITICS.

THIS IS THE REAL IRS SCANDAL
For decades, the IRS has allowed hundreds of 501C4s to break the law.

May 14, 2013 CREW Statement on Increasing Scrutiny of IRS

Melanie Sloan - Washington, D.C. — In response to the news that the IRS improperly targeted 501(c)(4) groups in the lead-up to the 2012 election — and in light of forthcoming congressional investigations into this matter — CREW Executive Director Melanie Sloan issued the following statement:

“What happened at the IRS, promulgated under the Bush IRS Commissioner, was wrong, but let’s not be sidetracked. The real problem is that phony 501(c)(4) groups are exploiting the tax laws to protect donors who don’t want to be held accountable for vicious, deceitful political ads. Hopefully this scandal will put these obscure but politically significant groups on the public’s radar.

“During the congressional hearings this week, members should question all aspects of 501(c)(4) enforcement, including why an IRS altered “regulations” allows these groups to work
primarily
for the social welfare when the statute requires them to engage in such activities
exclusively,’
as well as why the IRS has allowed some groups to violate even the lax primary purpose standard without consequences.”

Citizens for Responsibility and Ethics in Washington (CREW) is a non-profit legal watchdog group dedicated to holding public officials accountable for their actions. It's all part of the "right wing" house of mirrors.

House of Hoaxes.

They have lies and containers for lies. Other than paranoia and their strange sounding appeals to have sympathy for unborn children, the lies are about it.

What has to be beaten are the hoaxes.

The containers.

They can always generate an unlimited number of individual lies. Generating lies is easy for them. They have the most of the "Ad Men" style sociopaths.

Considering this one was pretty much made up in it's entirety by FLAKESnews, it's not really the best example.

GOP attacks on IRS go back well into the 1990s.

The hoax is that democracy produces an ever growing government that wants to tax you to death. They say things like "taxes are theft" and "America's school system has failed."

By every measure, today's students in the U.S. are doing better than their predecessors. More graduate high school and more succeed at college.

Obama's speech with the Turkish prime minister - He was asked about the IRS issue and state that we must make sure that the IRS is properly enforcing the law He did not use the word "exactly" but I think that is what he was getting at

Social Welfare: Antonym: the RepubliCon Cult and their AstroTurf wingnut spinoff, Teabaggers.

Embarrassingly, Darrell Issa's attempts at channeling of Joe McCarthy and Ken Starr are Opposite World Conlandia Circus acts. The desperate acts of a frantic RepubliCon Cult with unbearable Scandal Envy! "Watergate, Iran-Contra, 9-11~Enron~War on Terror~WS Heist!"

Pathetic: Definition: The desperate and dying RepubliCon Cult, circa 2013.

There seem to be a number of government officials - from Obama on down - who seem to have subtilly indicated that the IRS must
FOLLOW THE LEGISLATED IRS LAW
not the IRS PROCEDURES

could Obama have set up the Rs to demand that the IRA obey the law -
and therby screw the 501C4s that the Rs use to hide contributions to spend on politics?
ByeBye turd blossom!

In the House hearings yesterday, the republican majority would not allow a reading of the 501c4 LAW:

“Civic leagues or organizations not organized for profit but operated exclusively for the promotion of social welfare. Local associations of employees, the membership of which is limited to the employees of a designated person or persons in a particular municipality and the net earnings of which are devoted exclusively to charitable, educational, or recreational purposes”.

Don't forget our old friend Karl.

Just because FLAKESnews makes him look like an ass, doesn't mean he isn't hard at work doing the thing Karl does best.

Yanking your chain.

Turns out the IRS scandal is a put-on.

Internal IRS documents show that tea party groups weren't the only nonprofits flagged for review. Groups with "progressive" or "occupy" in their names were on the same list.

The facts haven't daunted the Republican scandal mongers. If anything, they've ramped up their rhetoric.

Last Friday, Senate Leader Mitch McConnell accused the administration of a "coordinated effort to stifle free speech" as part of a "culture of intimidation." Meanwhile, back in reality:

  • Twelve million Americans still can't find a job.
  • NIH cut 700 critical research grants in June.
  • Seventy percent of Meals on Wheels programs have waiting lists.
  • Student loan rates will double on July 1st.

We have a choice.

Either we waste the next three years in a defensive crouch or we force our issues back into the national debate.

If you believe that Congress should focus not on fake partisan scandals but on jobs, fair pay, repealing the sequester and protecting Social Security, make a contribution to the Campaign for America's Future.

We are up against very well-financed opponents who only care about destroying the president.

We don't always win, but with your help, we always show up and we never back down.

Help Fund the Fight

Sincerely,

Robert L. Borosage Co-Director, Campaign for America's Future

Of course you'd like to dismiss Obama's "Fast and Furious", IRS-gate, his AP-gate and his Benghazi-American betrayal as "faux". But you'll need to eventually be pulled kicking and screaming into reality soon then later. It's up to you as to how foolish and stupid you wish to appear as you continue your charade.

Do you have a TROLL problem?

here are some of its “tells” ►
attacking the poster - not the post
using vulgarity in stead of sanity
ranting about a source rather than the facts
accuse the poster of being a ---------------
"re-interpreting" the post rather than quoting it ( ala faux noose )
using a gross generalization to “prove” a specific
lying [ often obviously ]
changing the subject
using mccarthyite accusations
afraid to answer questions

you could buy a mongoose or a roach motel, but here is a better way: ……………………………………….TROLL solution ►
……………………………………….IGNORE ANY POSTS FROM THE TROLL

What charade??

He's correct.

The IRS should not have let up in the least.

They're just doing their job.

Besides.

Those groups deserved it and still do.

well there is def more than just some concern on my part for the irs and ap shit. the other stuff seems kind of like typical partisan stuff though.

[-] -3 points by OTP (-203) from Tampa, FL 11 years ago

I agree with you on all those points.

Although I have a feeling your suggestion/solution is more Republicans, at which that point I have to put you into the same category as the one you are arguing with- completely brainwashed.

So filled with hate that you have forgotten the most important part- self policing.
