I love military aircraft, they fascinate and thrill me. with that being said I find the F35 to be a crappy plane. So it is a jump Jet, so is the Harrier and the Harrier is proven technology that could be improved upon. The way the game is played now with regards to defense spending and most importantly aircraft, a company, in this case Lockheed, creates an environment where the plane is outsourced all over the country. With this they lobby the congressmen from each affected state selling the jobs that will created. Once hooked there is no way any representative will vote against the appropriation of these aircraft. The F15(cancelled), F22(cancelled), and F16 that the air force currently have are more than mission capable and can be continually upgraded plus the cost of each unit decreases as each plane rolls off the line. The navy has the F18 hornet/superhornet and the Marines have the AV8B harrier, and both fill the rolls perfectly. This JSF/F35 is a boondoggle and a waist of taxpayer funds.

thats too bad.. shoulda thought about all that money and jobs going there to enrich the 1% .. now they are richer and stronger.. get used to being second best .. america is broke.. super committee is right now trying to cut 1.2 trillion.. and you want to spend that on a jet? For an imagined threat? Cut off the money supply to china and you save the country. not through military.

as i said... its too late now... china has our jobs and our money. america is broke. theres nothing you can do to change that equation. sounds like a good reason to end corruption now?

What an ignorant comment: China is our primary source of production and the USA is their primary source of consumption. Neither country will commit economic suicide by attacking the other. That is a scenario that exists only to promote fear and sales for our defense industry: Lockheed, Boeing, Raytheon, Northrop Grumman, General Dynamics, etc.

Either you didn't watch the videos or you failed to understand that a drunken one-eyed monkey hanging from a ten-cent balloon could shoot an F-35 out of the sky with a ten-dollar pistol. We don't "need" that...
