We need another comic of the boldness and talent of George Carlin to be an OWS spokesperson.
I miss him and his 'in your face' barbs at society, reality and the status quo.
Not likely we could find one. Doug Stanhope is like a more cynical less intellectual Carlin. Marc Maron is an excellent cross between Carlin and Richard Lewis.
I'd nominate Eddie Pepitone (because he's the funniest man alive,) but I doubt many have heard of him . . .
I think everybody likes Lewis Black, although he can be a little one-note. Bill Maher is way too imbedded in the mainstream media, and ethically unreliable.
I still like Janeane Garofalo a whole lot, but the Far Right has gone on such a crusade to smear her that it's basically like picking Michael Moore in a dress from the outside perspective.
Comedians are like poets though. They inspire, but should they lead, be figureheads? I doubt it. Just look at George Dubya Bush: hilarious, yet disastrous.
Alternate schools of thought on that however:
Thanks. I'd nominate Eddie Peppitone over the others as well. Let's 'Order In!' I'll take my pizza with extras of everything on it please:

Yes, can never get enough Pepitone; Namaste!
Ha!Ha! Thanks. You know, it really takes a certain 'sick and demented' sense of humor to get through the tough stuff. When asked recently what kind of work I do my reply:"Not now. I'm out of commission!" (used to be a real estate and loan officer before my last company closed.)
