Everyone wants the economy to be better, right?
Everyone wants corporations to have less power and be out of the government, right?
Everyone can do a part to help both of these things happen at the same time, but it requires two very unpopular words. Personal responsibility. The concept is that you are responsible for what you do with your money. If you give the money to big corporations, you send money out of your local economy and you empower them moreso to spread their evil. If you buy as locally as possible, from your neighbor even, you keep the money in your local economy, you help employ a person who is in your area, and you don't send the money overseas or to a big corporation.
I'm not asking for perfection here. I'm not asking for everyone to give up everything. But with thousands of people involved, if everyone attempted to do BETTER than they already do, we could all take a step, in every day practice, to better our own communities.
As an example, next time you want to put something on your wall, don't go over to ikea and drop 50 bucks on some stock photo in a frame! Go to a local art walk and buy something from a local artist. Shop at Farmers Markets once a week. If you know people with skills, offer to hire them rather than calling Home Depot or Geek Squad. These kinds of things is money to your neighbor, supporting your community, and less money to big corporations.
If we want a better system, we have to become better people. A change in the system, with no change in the way we live, will bring us right back to where we are in no time. In order to live different, you gotta think different.
Think about it, peeps.
