Forum Post: The Demon Ayn Rand

This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Tories and Royalists can't distinguish right from wrong. They don't know that an economy that works for 10% of the population is not merely wrong. It's broken! The conservatives everywhere and the Republicans and Democrats in America don't know that the “market” is a tool of concentration of wealth. But they don't want the money to stop coming to them at an exponentially increasing rate.

Finance and trade [the “market”] are not fundamental to economy. To say they are is foolish and immoral. But the rich are not guilty. They and the majority of true believers in market dogma can't differentiate right from wrong. You know who you are. You are incapable of rational thought!

Ironically, most of you see yourselves as objective. That's especially true of those who believe you've got yours. You're possessed by the demon Ayn Rand.

Tell me about it. I live in Omaha where we have a street named John Galt Boulevard.

Did you know our monetary policy has been shaped by hardcore Ayn Rand believers? One of the main reasons wealth has accelerated to the top 1%. From Reagan to Bush to Clinton to Bush Jr, Alan Greenspan shaped our monetary system. One of the many reasons I am always on here shouting for reform on monetary policy. Even Bernanke, a republican chosen by Bush Jr and Obama, follows in Greenspan's footsteps.

Don't forget Milton Friedman and the Chicago boys. They did more in Nixon's admin than encourage the overthrow democracy and installation of the tyrant Pinochet in Chile. They lobbied for the "reforms" that Reagan installed and which really accelerated concentration of wealth that is the 5000 year old problem to begin with.

what is this monetary policy ?

[-] -2 points by TrevorMnemonic (5827) 11 years ago

I will describe our current monetary policy with one word "scam"

Currently our monetary policy introduces currency largely through private bank lending. Literally giving trillions of dollars to private banks.

Kucinich said it best in the National Emergency Employment Defense Act (which never passed).

  • "A debt-based monetary system, where money comes into existence primarily through private bank lending, can neither create, nor sustain, a stable economic environment, but has proven to be a source of chronic financial instability and frequent crisis, as evidenced by the near collapse of the financial system in 2008."

If Ayn Rand had published the planned novel “The Little Street” it would have been a perverse and twisted plagiarism of Dostoevsky's “Crime and Punishment” in which Rodion Raskolnikov/Danny Renahan is a hero instead of a narcissistic fool and sociopath. Yeah, nothing wrong with Ayn Rand, is there?

That is correct. I am one of them. Infected and afflicted since 1967. Help me, for the Love of God!. Please force the government to force The Rich to pay for an exorcism. I need one, so that is all that matters; it is my right on demand.

I demand it.If I don't get it, I'll Occupy it until I do.

Ayn who? Is she still alive?

[-] -1 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

Anyone who listens to someone else before themselves is a lunatic.

[-] 3 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

As is anyone who listens only to himself.

Those who listen to Ms. Rand and believe, are psychopaths.

[-] 1 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

People should listen to themselves first, then others.

Anyone who gives into another person is a coward.

[-] 0 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Tell me, how do know which of the chorus of voices in your head to believe at any given moment?

The one that supports Ayn?

[-] 0 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

Why do you keep comparing me to ayn rand? I'm not an objectivist, I preach subjectivity and relativism. Rand wants to force people to think like she does, I want people to think for themselves.

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

I'm not sure either, are you sure it wasn't one of the voices?

Or maybe it was just the thread title.

So libe(R)tarian lite?

[-] 1 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

So me criticizing ayn rand makes me a follower of hers?

Did you even read my original post or did you just assume?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

You're the one with all the voices in your head telling you what do think and do. So I guess one of you must already know?

Is one of you claiming to be a libertarian?

I used to be one you know, so don't be ashamed. It has a very seductive surface.

[-] 1 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

There's only one voice. Why am I a libertarian in your view?

[-] 1 points by shoozTroll (17632) 11 years ago

Good to know.

I guess because it's a thread on liberta(R)ians.

On the other hand, you could just answer the question.

[-] 1 points by HCabret (-327) 11 years ago

I have never claimed to be a libertarian nor a supporter and/or follower of Ayn Rand. Infact my original post in this thread critisized those who chooso to subscribe to Rand's philosophy.

I did not start this thread, I just wanted to get in on the Ayn Rand bashing, as she is a pro-violence, anti-free thought hypocrite.

I said "Anyone who listens to someone else before themselves is a lunatic.", meaning that anyone who follows blindly is a lunatic. Anyone who follows Ayn Rand's lunatic philosophy is a lunatic.
