Forum Post: The Demands listed being linked by Foxnews.com

Posted 13 years ago on Oct. 7, 2011, 2:07 p.m. EST by jasonnewyork (0)
This content is user submitted and not an official statement

Please take down the demands listed! Fox keeps linking to them saying that they are official demands. Yes, the admin note is nice, but why are those demands even still up there? Fox still has on their home page a link to a story about these demands. Use this against them and put up something about how Fox distorts the truth, so that when a Fox viewer clicks they see that instead of these absurd demands.

And while Fox Noise is busy being all "Fair and Balanced", their corporate backed reps in congress are actually the ones doing all the labeling:

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/_news/2011/10/07/8206043-cantor-says-hes-concerned-by-mobs-at-occupy-wall-street

Did no one here realize that taking on corporate America was EXACTLY the same thing as opposing the right?

The MSNBC article did make one statement which I found a bit odd:

"Organizers behind the movement, which expresses outrage toward the conduct of corporate America and seeks campaign finance reform, have hoped it develops into an analogue for the Tea Party on the left, which has helped fuel a Republican political resurgence over the past two years."

Did the protest "organizers" REALLY make this statement? Either way, someone here needs to make that declaration official, or denounce the claim entirely on the main page of this site.

I do have to say, that those two particular issues are very "left-leaning".

Faux is not news. It is the tool the 1% use to spread misinformation to anyone foolish enough to listen to there fascist programming. The average Faux veiwer doesnt even believe Global Warming is real. Many of there viewers have even been misinformed into thinking that the earth is beggining to enter a natural cooling cycle. Faux News blatantly promoted there corporate financed teaparty; it only makes since that they would stand to try and marginalize and mis characterize the OWS movement. They feel threatened by OWS, because the protesters are standing against the very forces that Faux has been propping into a more secure place of power all these years. Maybe soon though the viewers of Faux well recognize that they have been nothing more than pawns mislead and most poorly informed. Maybe someday soon the viewers of Faux well turn off there T.V.s and join the Occuppiers in Wall Street.

Protesting and complaining about issues, is a good start, but I've yet to see any reall demands from the OWS movement. This movement lacks and mandates or clear direction that we want leadership to take. Case in point: "On October 5, the Olbermann evening news featured a reading of the Occupy Wall Street Declaration, written by protesters Ryan Hoffman and Lex Rendon. This document does not offer an analysis of the current economic crisis. Rather, it represents a laundry list of complaints, many valid and some spurious. Most important, this document contains not one concrete demand, measure, or program point on which the protesters are willing to pledge that they will be fighting for the interests of the American people. In that sense, it is a document of moral and intellectual impotence." this is a direct quote from http://tarpley.net/2011/10/07/occupy-wall-street-who-wants-to-hijack-the-movement/

point being it's a forum, any one can say anything, using it as the public voice of the movement is a cheap shot by the media

But I do believe that the MSM really wants to know specifics. It's their job to find out the who, what, and WHY'S (notice the emphasis on why).

What is it that everybody wants? Occupy Wall Street ... and then what?

i agree, there's a clear lack of leadership down there, and as a result all the wrong messages are being portrayed and now most of america has a completely false idea of whats happening. And the media, left or right wing has no interest in the "truth" they rarely do, the only thing they want to do is portray it the way they think their viewers want to see it.

The demands provide a target at which the Corporations can aim.
