I just got a brilliant idea.

We should all drive to Washington DC and stop at the entrance. This will block traffic in and out of the city.

Our one demand shall be to take money out of politics and until that is done we shall not move our cars.

By doing this we will remind politicians who they work for and we'll be able to restore our democracy.

I think you'd have to be prepared to lose your car or pay the hefty fines and impound lot fees to retrieve it. Not to mention the damage your car might receive. The city might actually welcome such a protest. It'd be a huge cash cow for the city DC and local tow truck operators. I don't think you'd win that one.

Getting money out of politics is the number one issue.

Brilliant? Are you high? Anyone who joins your action is signing up to be arrested and have their car impounded. April should know better.

Yeah I know, but don't worry. We're bringing Sponge Cake!

I'd bring some too but even with the wonderfully detailed recipe, I'm still just a deer -in-the-headlights when I walk into a kitchen. I'm more a "out here in the fields, I fight for my meals, I get my back into my living . I don't need to fight to prove I'm right. I don't need to be Forgiven Yea Yea Yea...."

+1 April

lol. You can sing! We'll need some music there.

So far it's you, me and roni. I think we need more bodies. : )
Get some more people over here. Tell them we've got Sponge Cake and music!

Well, it's a better idea than blocking ports for no productive purpose. And it's alot better than playing direct democracy games in the park. I really can't think of a single downside considering the nonsense of this movement! So what the hell, I'm in!

Nice that makes two. :p

If we were to do this though it'd have to be some time next year to gather enough people. Ironically I was thinking April.

April! I like that! Gives me time to get my SUV tuned up and Mapquest it out. I might do a little sightseeing on the way. I'm not a camper though. I'm getting a room, 'cause I'm thinking we might be there a few days. : )

[-] 1 points by ronimacarroni (1089) 12 years ago

If it were just a few days it'd be a miracle.

Realistically it'd be two weeks at the very least. ~_~

Unless we decide to make this a demonstration. In which case we'd make our point but then politicians may or may not be swayed and it'd take a year of bickering before they'd get anywhere if they did.

lol. It's gonna be a long haul then huh? I think we should plan on bringing some Sponge Cake.

Then the congressional elections are in November of 2012 so a demonstration would probably raise the issue for candidates. But I don't think I need to explain why most politicians would not be thrilled about the idea. Not to mention fact that it would require an amendment.

Is anyone else in?

I know it doesn't cover all the problems, but it does cover the most important one.
