It may be surprising for many people to hear that there is an alternative to the capitalist system that so many Americans seem to cherish. Since the dawn of agriculture, we have lived in the predatory stage of human development, in which the occupation of a leisure class is the predatory seizure of goods. They have taken away the dignity in hard honest work and have attempted to oppress the good people of this world according to their will. Their greed and power have no end. Until now. It is time that we throw of the chains of the leisure class. For some time now we have lived in a capitalist system where labor is treated as a commodity and something to be bought and sold on the market, where our political and economic systems are run by egoism, where competition pits brother against brother, and where one hopes for the disadvantage of another. Low growth, stagnant wages, and the financialization of accumulation are the result of the capitalist system. Recession after recession has destroyed the efforts of many to earn a decent living. This must change. I support a system based on cooperation and solidarity. A system based on democratic planning and worker democracy, putting the destiny of many back into their own hands. Production is adjusted to human need and distribution of income is based on contribution/individual merit. Work is to be distributed among the members of society ensuring a decent standard of living for every man woman and child. Human beings are put above profit. There is an alternative, and it is up to the great people of the world and of this nation to choose the status quo, or to break the bonds of oppression and institute a socialist economy. I choose the latter. Equality, Liberty, Fraternity.
agreed. nice post.
We must make an effort to end ALL exploitation, as well as look after the environment. It's possible, and it's the dream of many.

Uh, no. I do not think greed has to be synonomous with capitalism. Greed is a personal failure of morality. Capitalism needs a healthy dose of responsibility and ethics...." .....BRAVO APRIL!!!

You have NO IDEA how happy I am to hear you say that!
Thank you so much!
I was in a conversation with somebody else who said that greed was good and necessary for capitalism. My very faith in humanity was shaking!
I think I may throw this out there as an open post. I still need a little more confirmation in the ultimate goodness of our collective humanity.
I think it comes down to a distinction and understanding the difference between Greed and Prosperity. What do you think?
