"I took jobs I didn't want. Why don't you?" says one poster to the protesters. "Suck it up and become part of the 53%."
I sympathize. I joined the military, used the GI bill and a part-time job to put myself through state school. I work hard, have a career, pay taxes, etc., and I don't get a lot of breaks on taxes either, being single with no dependents.
To attack the protesters though is not right. I know, you've seen some bad apples on television. But that stuff is not going on at Occupy Topeka. The Occupy movement is made up of good people and bad people. It is full of people frustrated with the state of the union. Aren't we all? They each have their own specific complaint and their own idea for fixing it. Don't we all?
I myself have a few gripes, but if I had to name one, it would be that big money and politics seem to go hand in hand and I don't feel the average American is represented in congress. You, have your own gripe about the state of the union and you probably have an idea how to fix it.
How can anybody disagree with a group that doesn't have a set of demands or agenda yet? The Occupy movement involves a wider range of people than you know. It's not all lazy college kids disrespecting the local businesses. It's people like me and you.
Heck, they should call it the 100%, but that would sound silly.
perhaps you missed the point it's not what were aganst it's what we ar for
There will come a point when, OWS will have to define itself, pick leaders and table demands. Until that point the movement is subject to hi-jacking from the loadest or best finianced cadre.
