"What is scary about MF Global is that there is no political will in this country to look out for people."

Where was the outcry for the rights of the people in the frauds of the past affecting the 99%?
Does anybody honestly think that corporations are in business for the good of the people? They're in it for the money first, people second. Do people honestly think the government has the good of the people at heart? How can they? The government is a business too. All politicians are in it for the money, that's why they're all corrupt, tho some more than others. And big corporations have the government in their back pocket. Do you honestly think that big corporations and politicians will do ANYTHING to upset their precious status-quo? Certainly not... they LOVE having power over you.
It's time I think, to start thinking BEYOND financial economies, and more about resource-based economies and get rid of this gross imbalance of things.. get rid of the greed and corruption. And it is the only way to effectively strip the 1% of their power over us.

This is just a cheap stunt to make people think they care (about the nation, about the economy, about people) which is an essential part of the illusion. As George Carlin so eloquently put it, "They ... don't ... give ... a ... shit!"
Even when they were trumpeting their whole "greed is good" rubbish, right before the collapse, they claimed it would benefit us all. This is so outlandish, in 40 or 50 years (when they've papered over everything with a whole new layer of bullshit and covered up the history yet again) your grandkids will think you're a nutcase or some kind of conspiracy loon if you tell them that they were saying this.
The rich are running out of things to cannibalize and are turning on each other.
I was channel surfing earlier - and in passing the Fox channel I heard them echoing some of our concerns.
In a way it is amazing, and a thing of terrible beauty - it is also a cautionary sign.
We have power.
Watch them jump.
