The hoarding of all this wealth above and beyond the basics is totally absurd way for society to operate. When 1% of population has 40% of the wealth, then that society is sick and unsustainable. We can do better. And we will.

This is why a little modest inflation (and no, I did not say hyper-inflation) would be a correction for decades of over-suppressing inflation and good thing right now, not long term, but just until unemployment declines. The Tea Party and the conservatives have just gone too far in trying to protect the assets of the 1% by slamming inflation from their pulpits during a liquidity crisis.
