The mayor has declared that "The first amendment clearly protects speech and tents are not speech." However, the Supreme Court has ruled via Citizens United that money=speech. Solution: Build shelters in the park that are made of money (e.g., spare change/pennies). This will make a statement that is functional, artistic, topically relevant, and literally legal.
What a coincidence. This was also suggested late last night in another post. They suggested the Zimbabwe dollar I believe. Due to hyperinflation it takes a truckload to buy a bag of groceries. What a statement that would make.
