TEN COMMANDMENTS FOR A GLOBAL HUMANISM
(Dr. Rodrigue TREMBLAY)
1- Proclaim the natural dignity and inherent worth of all human beings.
2- Respect the life and property of others.
3- Practice tolerance and open-mindedness towards the choices and life styles of others.
4- Share with those who are less fortunate and mutually assist those who are in need of help.
5- Use neither lies, nor spiritual doctrine, nor temporal power to dominate and exploit others.
6- Rely on reason, logic and science to understand the Universe and to solve life's problems.
7- Conserve and improve the Earth's natural environment—land, soil, water, air and space—as humankind's common heritage.
8- Resolve differences and conflicts cooperatively without resorting to violence or to wars.
9- Organize public affairs according to individual freedom and responsibility, through political and economic democracy.
10- Develop one's intelligence and talents through education and effort.

I have just a couple of comments:
Sorry, not all people deserve to be called "worthy" of anything. There are folks who, after having a great number of opportunities given, have pissed them away and are nothing more than a waste of oxygen and a drain on humanity. However, I DO believe in the notion that people are worthy, until THEY prove otherwise.
Yes, privately....it should NOT be via our government. We should not be a welfare state and that is exactly what the US has become.
It's a nice thought.....how do you get the rest of the world to go along?
There is only one, really important issue you left off your list. Personal responsibility. For ones actions and choices. THAT is the root of 99% of the problems in the US today.
I'm an atheist. I don't feel a need for any commandments, I am moral without any outside influence, church, state, well intentioned humanists. the whole commandment thing is repulsive, IMHO
then call them something else if the c word bothers you that much...
You live by those rules. I will abstain
