Don't the government know how much its costing them when all and I mean ALL the customer service jobs and industry jobs is overseas? Try making a compliant with any large company chances are you wont understand who's on the other side? But heck you must know that already!! What happened to the slogan : "MADE IN THE USA"???? All the greed from our American industry sending work overseas cost lost revenue (government Tax dollars) Yes Ford the car is not entirely an American Product!! Think about it. Sending all these jobs overseas creates unemployment who pays for that? No Salary No taxes collected. No one has the onions to buy a home anymore (afraid of losing there job) so the states getting no Mortgage taxes.(Many put remodeling there homes on hold so lost sales and taxes) If we don't work here there is less tax collection to the Fed and local state and city. If people are walking out of there homes no real estate taxes are being collected not to mention water and sewer and insurance. THIS STARTED 20 years ago folks!!! And the government is letting the corporate greed get away with it. Can you remember from the 60's- 80's how things were and how the corporations treated its employees and how life was in those days???You see more and more Contract jobs 3-6mo-1year jobs so the greedy corporate companies don't have to pay medical benefits. What happened to loyalty to a company? This world is heading to a very very dark place. Keep the fight up and let them know we are on to them.. GOD REALLY NEEDS TO BLESS AMERICA!!!I
How about reducing regulations and taxes related to hiring US workers to make it more cost effective to hire workers here.
it all depends on the math one way vs the other We all know the corp machine will go with the most cost savings the whole idea is to create the jobs that rightfully belong in this county
Because we would also then have to adapt the wages and benefits given to foreign workers to be competitive. We used to maintain trade balance by tariffs but the free trade treaties plus the favored nation status that is given to countries that no longer require it, and the tax loopholes and methods of avoidance employed by corporations mean there won't be a level playing field until we have been reduced to the level of the competitor: this is where the government is supposed to act to protect not only the corporate good, but the good of people.
I won't dispute anything you said, but I think it is better to reduce costs associated with hiring in this country rather than tax corporations that shift jobs overseas. Reducing the burdens of hiring locally would help both US employees and would reduce the cost of exports. Raising taxes would most likely achieve the opposite effect.
This would cause their costs to increase so it would make them more likely to send more people overseas to lower costs.
Or just change the nation they exist in and avoid all US altogether.
Actions have consequences.
Do a little research. China is the biggest market for cars in the world. India will be the next biggest market. Now, we can all agree that Ford and GM want to sell cars there right? It would benefit our American companies right? The answer to both of those questions is YES I'm sure. Now... there are a few laws in China. One being that to sell a product there, it must also be made there. Learn the facts before you start crying unfair!
Only problem with what you said is that all products are made in China and SOLD IN THE USA I would love to go with your thoughts if you sell it there then it has to made there would be great but lets face it thats not how it works in todays market
And I'm not exactly sure what their laws are, but a company has to make some products in China before it is allowed to import or I assume there are some huge taxes making it impossible to sell there.
Look into why it's not possible to be made here. The Chevy Sonic is the FIRST subcompact car to be made in America (and sold for profit). Because they had to make a special deal with the UAW for lower wages, $16/hour instead of the normal $20+/hour. For a line worker! That's plenty for a line worker in my opinion... Labor rates have gone through the roof in the USA, it's no wonder things get shipped off. If you forced companies to build everything here, they would either leave completely, or go bankrupt because no one would be able to afford the products with current labor rates. It's not the company to blame, it's our over inflated labor rates.
They took yer jerbs!
I totaly agree with that but whos fault is that the management team for agreeing to such stupidity so let them strike and then replace them with $16 worker..but keep these jobs here
Yes, I agree, the UAW is not too blame completely. The company who agreed also is to blame. But when the economy was great, it seemed ok to have these terrible practices. There have been some big changes and both the UAW and Automakers have started to figure out the issues, and the are doing quite well. I think GM and Ford are trying to bring more jobs in the US. Chrysler (Fiat now) I doubt will bring so many here.
The statistic is that for every 1 auto industry job, 9 others are created. That's why we couldn't let GM and Chrysler die.
Keep in mind its not only the auto industry its really all the banking and service orientated companies to blame also. Customer service jobs dont exist here anymore its really one big mess that's needs to be addressed asap before we really go into a depression
I know, I don't know much about those industries so I don't want to post about them because I will get the facts wrong. I know the auto industry fairly well having worked in it (non-union at GM).
I do know that there is a LACK of engineers out there. If people stopped pursuing art degree and things like that, they would find jobs... An art degree doesn't get you a job, it gets you an education. An engineering degree is like training for a job, it WILL get you a job. That's why it's difficult though... There is a serious lack of technical people in America. We have to import a ton of people from foreign countries to work these jobs because Americans don't have the education.
There are plenty of US companies that are employee owned and that are extremely successful and these companies tend to follow more humane principles than those of publically traded corporations. By going public and then being a slave to the shareholders most corporations then lose their humanity. Wall Street creates the environment for the worst evil greed to breed.
There is no such thing anymore as an American corporation.
There are only GLOBAL corporations.
One Percenters in NYS consist of just 34,000 households. http://www.orionmagazine.org/index.php/articles/article/6470?source=patrick.net

And to those that cry, "BUY AMERICAN!" You also need to learn your facts. When you are looking at a Fiesta built in Mexico or a Subaru built in Indiana... The Fiesta is an "American" car, but the Subaru (Japanese) is going to provide more American jobs. And buying the Fiesta does NOT put money back into America. It puts money into the GLOBAL company and into investors. So if you are a Ford stockholder (like myself) it will benefit. But if you aren't... it's putting money into a Global company, just like buying the Subaru. The difference is that the Subaru was assembled in Indiana, therefore benefiting American jobs.
And why cant Ford just open a plant here and do the same???But you said Subaru built in India how does that create more american jobs? Again you said stockholders the greed of the corporate machine continues!!
Stockholders are everyday people, nothing to do with greed.
Because Subaru is non-UAW. Lower wages.
Have you ever worked in the auto industry?
