UNIFY BEHIND THIS MESSAGE - Take Your Money Out of the Banks - Vote with your Money! Credit Unions are your local alternative to Big Banks.
If Bank of America or Chase has your money, they are using it to buy votes. They are buying votes in congress and on the streets with your money.
Close your Bank account and move your money to a local credit union - if the credit union is part of the coop network - 90% of credit unions are, you can use other coop credit unions as if they were your own branch.
Instead of most of the nations money being in the big three banks, spread it out into thousands of small credit unions. This is how WE can redistribute the wealth.
Take Your Money Out of the Banks NOW!
Bank Transfer Day - November 5, 2011
"Together we can ensure that these banking institutions will ALWAYS remember the 5th of November!! If the 99% removes our funds from the major banking institutions to non-profit credit unions on or by this date, we will send a clear message to the 1% that conscious consumers won't support companies with unethical business practices.
• Research your local credit union options • Open an account with the one that best suits your needs • Cancel all automatic withdrawals & deposits • Transfer your funds to the new account • Follow your bank's procedures to close your account before 11/05

I had this idea last night and thought it was brilliant -- then I thought, someone else has thought of this. We should designate a day and make it national news. For real, I have some contacts and word spreads so fast nowadays. We just need some cred. I found this blog with the date of Nov 5 - Bank Transfer Day. http://blogs.villagevoice.com/runninscared/2011/10/bank_transfer_day_occupy_wall_street.php. We can make this BIG!
i keep my money in jar infront of my house. herp.
Can't argue with that, I'm going to start using my university credit union account exclusively.
Honestly, the reason I went with a big bank was because the bank was the closest bank to my first job (@ 18, video store).
My bank started small, then got aquired by Wachovia and became more accesible in more places, then that got bought out by Wells Fargo, which is basically, everywhere in the United States.
I did some research just now and found a good site explaining what a Federal Credit Union is and where to find multiple branches: http://www.asmarterchoice.org/What_Is_a_Credit_Union_94.html
It doesn't tell me if they are joined with each other for ATM access, or if I can use popular ATMS to get money. :(
this is the easiest form of dissent and why are more people not doing this?not only that, each day you continue to keep your money in the bank you are risking all kinds of possible unforeseen events

RUN ON THE BANKS STARTS TONIGHT - take your money! They have betrayed our trust - move your investments to someone you trust and away from the bank.
Banks are all connected so if they take their money out the banks the only people who will win are the common street criminals who rob them knowing that they now have their weekly pay check in their house. Is there nobody with brains in this movement? You people are starting to sound like 99% of the idiots or con men yourself.
I believe the poster said to take money out of banks and put it in credit unions not under mattresses.
Hey Blankfine of Goldman Sacks ssayhs he is doing God's work
See Plutonomy Citigroup 2005
Credit Unions get preferential treatment from government. They don't operate under the same rules, they get special waivers. Don't blame the big banks.
Could u specify what you mean by "preferential treatment, same rules, special waivers"? Chase, Bank of America, Wells Fargo, Citigroup - In that order, the 4 largest banks - Do these banks get preferential treatment from the government, operate under the same rules and get special wavers? (TARP?)
Special treatment to the government: municipal bond deals are not transparent and very lucrative!!
I agree with this approach. We need actions not just words. This is easy and everyone should do it now.
