Forum Post: Supply and demand = amateur economics.

Supply and demand does not deal with real demand , it deals with financial demand.

There are billions of people with real demand for basic necessities but the markets do not supply them because their demand has no finance.

Read the Rules

The poor do not have the money to create demand because it has been stolen by their rulers through taxation, loss of land, and the horrors of war. Whenever there is great inequity in wealth, it is always due to great theft.

I think we need a solid economic foundation. There is too much debt and banks act like crazed casino operators on steroids.

the supply of labor far exceeds any real demand for it

Call Goldman and see if they will work out a credit default swap deal ----maybe we could get 30 or 40 billion for something real this time.

We need more labor that benefits society, not less.

[-] 1 points by Mattholck (51) 12 years ago

could use a public health care system

trying to find labor for everyone is not the solution

a fairer distribution of resources is needed

Instead of workers dying of cavities, why not teach more to become dentists? If people want to work, they can find something to do. It is getting paid that is the tricky part. And the wealthy dictate what is worthy of payment, usually to the detriment of society. Society should create more jobs that benefit all, such as cancer research, genome study, many scientific pursuits. Also, we need more artists to remind us, we are not just machines for the wealthy. We are human.

[-] 2 points by Mattholck (51) 12 years ago

indeed

as it stands , it seems we must convince the employer their is a need of an unneeded prodct

[-] 0 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

their are tons of jobs ready for people with hard science degrees, Americans no longer study hard sciemces, so we import chinese scholars.

artists should create stuff people want to see and hear. if not, we dont need them.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

No, the wealthy get business degrees, the poor are blocked from getting science degrees.

[-] 0 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

I got a BS in molecular biology and then went to dental school with zero help from anyone. I worked and took out loans for the majority of my tuition over the years. I went to public schools the whole way. My family was not poor but they were by no means wealthy enough to help with my schooling. At no point was I ever blocked, or anything even remotely resembling blocked, from continuing my education.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

You must have had good credit if you took out loans.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Did your high school performance make a difference?

[-] 1 points by Mooks (1985) 12 years ago

I got good, not great, grades in high school. My high school sucked though.

[-] -1 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

youre nuts. no one blocks anyone from a hard science degree. try again, your act is getting stale.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

In spite of receiving National Science Foundation STEM Scholarships, I cannot afford to continue my education. You are clueless, and you spread misinformation which damages the dialog in this country.

[-] 0 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

i guarantee you derailed your own career thru some poor choice. what mistake did you make? be honest.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

When was the last time you were at a college? Call up a financial aid office, ask how many students drop out solely due to finances. Nice try trying to spin it as "lack of responsibility". I can introduce you to a room full of good students who dropped out due to funds. You are CLUELESS.

[-] -1 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

i have a doctorate and i put 4 kids thru college who also have hard science degrees and doctorates. no one who had a scholarship would have to drop out for financial reasons, none. you either didnt get the grades to continue, or you made an error like getting pregnant, getting someone pregnant, or got involved in drugs. which is it?

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Your ignorance is really showing. Have you no desire to even try to hide it?

[-] -1 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

i know college, i am a hard science professor at a major university. i know all the stories. you arent being honest. that i know.

[-] 1 points by HarryCrew07 (433) 12 years ago

Well, you need to read more stories. Maybe your college has excellent financial aid, but money is a very significant factor as to why students can't complete college. Scholarships don't provide everything, even the best scholarships. I was lucky, I graduated as class valedictorian and got major scholarships but I'm still 20,000 in debt.

[-] 0 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

yes, you will have debt, that is a way of life nowadays. a true hard science major with solid grades will be given every chance to complete a degree. i cant say thats true for business majors which are a dime a dozen. unis are cutting hard science departments because they dont have any students. the very survival of a department depends on keeping students, not kicking them out.

my friend is the lead chip designer for one branch of Intel. he is the only American trained caucasian for a team if 23. he hadnt worked with an American trained chip designer for over 10 years.

[-] 1 points by BlueRose (1437) 12 years ago

Go tomorrow to your own financial aid office in your own college, you tell them what you told me. Why don't you say publicly in the college paper what you told me?

Capitalism has proven to be the best allocator of assets in the history of the world.

No, the wealthy does not dictate what is worthy of payment. The market as a whole does. Do the wealthy shop at Dollar Stores, or Walmart, or Costco, or McDonalds.

I continue to be baffled why you folks want some bureaucrat in DC controlling your lives.

Works for Mexico doesn't it.

If you have visited that part of the world you know that there are pharmacists all over. They have been more than successful at taking average joe and teaching them to become pharmacists. Even Americans are impressed and travel down there to get their meds.

A pharmacy on about every corner in town. They have even taken criminals and turned them into pharmacists - just look at the amount of drugs that they produce and smuggle into this country.

I even her that they have done much the same thing with dentists. Need dentures - look no further than Mexico.

Mexico has done a great job in these areas - and I won't even mention the overwhelming production of art work being done. Paintings, tin work, other metal work, iron work, pottery, sculptures.

[-] 0 points by DiogenesTruth (108) 12 years ago

and The mexican people are murdering each other at rates that boggle the mind. yep, mexico is a paradise. hahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahahah,

[-] 0 points by ronjj (-241) 12 years ago

Yep - I hear that those pharmacists are raking it in big time and I think that there is a plan pending to give people a medical doctor's license after 60 days in school because there is such demand.

And don't even mention the EMT service. Did you ever drive into that country and wonder why the ambulance was parked by the side of the road and the medics were holding out a tin can for donations to keep the operation running.

Then please donate all of your money to them.

Its time for people to either start walking the walk or shut up and pack it in.
