These employees have worked without a contract for three years, with the existing terms of their contracts extended since March 2009, Naomi Nightingale, SunLine director of Administration and Human Resources, said.
Management is taking nothing away from the employees, offering 2 percent wage increases for each of the next two years and $50 increases to monthly benefits contributions, which would take them to $875, Nightingale said.
But Silver said the sticking point is management's refusal to sign a statement declaring that if during the contract non-bargaining unit employees get a wage and/or benefits increase beyond what bargaining unit employees receive, the unionized workers will get the same increase. http://www.mydesert.com/article/20120301/NEWS01/203010315/SunLine-workers-authorize-strike?odyssey=tab%7Ctopnews%7Ctext%7CFrontpage
