- obviously, student loan burden is a huge societal problem.
- equally obviously, regular taxpayers cannot be asked to pay these loans.
- also obviously, colleges are reckless in facilitating those loans, regardless of future employment perspectives of the students.
- why not make the next logical step and make colleges more responsible? for example, allow student loan bankruptcy 10 years after graduation, if the former student fails to find an employment allowing her or him to repay these loans; allow courts to make their college or university responsible for repaying these loans.
thoughts?
I had to pay almost 20,000 dollars off of student loans. They are crippling and debilitating to young people just getting out of school. Loan forgiveness and the similar ARE NOT THE ANSWER - the answer is making it illegal for schools to Charge hundreds of thousands of dollars for education!!!
Price controls never work - they just cause shortages and corruption. Don't you think that school charge so much because they can - the loans seem "free" to inexperienced kids, and schools bear no responsibility?
I think the schools are responsible for their greed.
Yes! Student loans are predatory in nature. You ask a 17 yr old kid to take on six figures of debt that will always follow them even if they go bankrupt
Good intent, but I'm not sure it could be done under the current system. Please watch for clarification: http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=TX1N3opw5eI
I am not sure what's the point here - can you say it in your own words?
