Yeah. What a great idea. Then in three months I will owe four times as much. I really think they know how stupid we are without a move like this to prove it to them. Yeah, sure would send a real message. Is it ok if I just choose to pin a cardboard on my back that says "im stupid"

Actually, a lot of people have already tried this. They were part of the reason for the "toxic asset" thing that everyone thinks is so bad.

No, thank you As long as I can, I will pay my mortgage. I asked for that mortgage, gave them all the honest information the wanted and they made their own decision. Why would it be right for me to "screw" my neighbor by not paying my mortgage. A couple of the people from our local bank live pretty close to me - and NO I an not referring to the big bad bank president. One is a secretary and the other is a loan processor. Very nice neighbors.

Thank you! Of all the ideas floating around this site, this one has to be the worst- if you are in a home and can pay your mortgage, pay it! Do you have any idea what it's like trying to rent someplace decent when your credit is bad? And even if you put that money aside and refused to pay just as a protest, what about the additional fees and penalties? It's not worth risking your shelter, your basic need of shelter, especially if you have children or elderly people living with you! I live in a very modest house, but in 4 years it will be mine free and clear and I intend to stay that way, here, in this home, I won't sell it to put a downpayment on something "better" just because I am relatively young and could still pay a 30 year mortgage. I won't risk that for any protest, sorry. I agree that corporate greed and government corruption is rampant, but I will never willingly walk away from any debt while I have the ability to pay. And I agree with Ronjj- not paying your mortgage or purposely walking away from your mortgage not because you can't pay- which is an unfortunate thing and it happens, and people who can not pay, I have the deepest sympathy for you and wish you well, you have to do what you have to do- hurts your neighbors as well, as unoccupied houses devalue property in the whole neighborhood. It's simply just not a good idea.

And that message would be, "See you in court!"

CSetton - this is a great website isn't it. According to the notice I received, you posted in response to my post (ronjj)

I read your post and can't match things.

As was said so many times "you talking to me"

that you don't want your house anymore and the banks can come get it?

try opening your mouth once you have a mortgage

sure does give you some real perspective doesn't it armchaircon1.

WOW, would someone please tell a funny joke on here and not just a pathetic one. I need a good laugh, and these posters need to add a little hilarity to their life. This is way beyond morbid

You are about the hundredth person to suggest this idea.

Guess what was one of the main precipitators to the crash? That would be a large amount of people defaulting on their mortgages en masse.

Now, your idea here, is let's do that even more.

Simply brilliant.

I've been putting on a lot of weight lately I wonder if the best course of action would be to stuff my face and not exercise.
