As 'political innovators', you will find inspiration and wisdom in Steve Jobs’ Best Quotes. http://blogs.wsj.com/digits/2011/08/24/steve-jobss-best-quotes/

Though spoken in the context of personal tech innovation, there is applicability to the movement's work.

Here is one.

Steve Jobs, Oct. 12, 2004 “The system is that there is no system. That doesn’t mean we don’t have process. Apple is a very disciplined company, and we have great processes. But that’s not what it’s about. Process makes you more efficient.

“But innovation comes from people meeting up in the hallways or calling each other at 10:30 at night with a new idea, or because they realized something that shoots holes in how we’ve been thinking about a problem. It’s ad hoc meetings of six people called by someone who thinks he has figured out the coolest new thing ever and who wants to know what other people think of his idea.

“And it comes from saying no to 1,000 things to make sure we don’t get on the wrong track or try to do too much. We’re always thinking about new markets we could enter, but it’s only by saying no that you can concentrate on the things that are really important."

                                                ***

I am certain there are many excellent ideas for improving U.S. governance and mobilizing OWS in this forum -- who is culling them out for review? Perhaps the forum should be segmented, where each segment informs the other, but the concrete ideas aren't lost. One way might be to separate ‘philosophy/basic principles' and ‘ideas for converting the will of the movement into reality’ and 'Issues'.

hum hum hum steve jobs (rip) was very anti open-source and out to kill it. open-source is the most progressive socio economic business development we have had in a while and he hated it because it did not fit his business model. don't be mistaken he was THE 1% and through great design and clever marketing had you believe you were "thinking differently"

ps:the guys inline outside the apple store to get the new iphone 4s are they occupiers that "think differntly"?

I've been a big fan of open source from the beginning, I think its processes can be learned from by this movement as well, especially the book The Cathedral & the Bazaar: Musings on Linux and Open Source by an Accidental Revolutionary. But Jobs himself is not the issue here; his methods as a successful change agent are.

Steve Jobs didn't give much to charity. In fact he stopped all charity giving when he returned to Apple. I have a great respect for him, but he's really not the god some people make him out to be.

Sounds kind of like Bono.. Except Bono wants everyone to donate so that he can keep most of the funds.

That's what I heard, too. Over three billion dollar fortune and never gave a dime to charity. I saw a video clip of him at an Apple store opening when a man in a wheelchair asked him for an autograph. He told him, "No, sign it yourself." and then, "oh, you're gonna play the guilt card, eh?" Acted like a total douch bag. What an asshole.
