If you have a chance to speak out to one person, a group, or the media here is your opportunity to speak well for our goals. This speech is less than 500 words, fits on a single sheet of paper and will give you the power to deliver a message that can heal our nation. Good Luck!
Make no mistake, we are a great nation! We have the best citizens and the most opportunity, bar none. However, we have begun to lose our way and that is why we gather here today. We the people must guide our nation away from its journey towards darkness and on to a brighter path. A path illuminated by compassion and understanding.
“We the people”; those are powerful words. We know them well and they have deep meaning for us. Our founding fathers created the most powerful nation on Earth by decreeing that this country would be ruled by “the people”. And, they meant everyone, not just the wealthy or elite. Recently, we have lost our way and have become the nation of Me instead of the nation of We.
Powerful forces have begun to turn us away from being the nation of “We the People” towards an elitist, morally corrupt society focused on the individual. Our current society is heavily ruled by people more interested in personal glory than the concerns of their fellow citizens. Our nation is under the thumb of people with a broken moral compass. They have a hole in their collective soul.
Unfortunately, those in control have lost the understanding that when you are blessed with great personal wealth and power, you have an obligation to help those less well-off. In their ego driven world they tout their personal accomplishments while forgetting that they got there on the backs of their fellow citizens.
Those of us in the majority understand and accept that it is in our collective best interests to help each other. When one of us fails, we all fail. When one of us succeeds we all succeed. We understand that when someone stumbles it is our moral obligation to reach down and help that person. Today, we make our voices heard in support of the process to remove from power those people who have forgotten their moral and civic duties.
Hopefully this youthful movement will take us on a journey to a nation: • Where we focus equally on helping ourselves and our fellow citizens • Where everyone has equal access to a job • Where we provide for a more equitable distribution of our nation’s wealth while allowing our high achievers reap the rewards of their hard work • Where we support and praise those corporations that focus as much on social welfare as they focus on their personal welfare • Where we shun those corporations that are focused solely on profit • Where our elected representatives cannot be bought by corporate lobbyists • Where we financially encourage corporations to create jobs and keep them in this nation • Where those who own and manage our financial system are under tight control • Where the collective focus is on We, not Me.
When we achieve these goals, we will all live in a better nation!
