Formation of a party is more than necessary. However the efforts have to be channeled into a respectable party. Rebellion, destruction, anarchy and acts of terror lead to resentment and will not gain respect of the nation.
I spent one half of my life in a communist country and the second half in America. I can compare and know what works.
While communism is a utopic delusional theory that does not work in reality, as it is based on equality, which in a society never exists. Communism crumbled because of greed and insane hunger for control and power of its leaders. As the current official parties are represented by well-to-do people and are supported by wealthy entities and individuals, they will never be able to make a difference and will keep wasting money of programs that will never work. A middle ground must be established, using reason.
A reform is needed that amongst many others will:
- Slash and cap prices of real estate and land, which is to my opinion the root of the problem.
- Rates for medication, insurance, medical and dental procedures have to be slashed and capped.
- Insurance, education, medical and dental care has to become state-owned and subsidized from gains from oil and taxes from large corporations.
- All corporations must pay taxes.
- Strict control of distribution of government funds must be implemented.
- Surplus has to be distributed across resorts.
- War in Iraq must be terminated.
- Anti-corruption and criminal laws have to be reformed.
- Unions have to be eliminated, as they benefit only their own management, render employers unsustainable, which increases unemployment, and are of very little help to their members.
- Strong labor laws must be implemented. Shortly, the system must serve the people who build the nation. I can reassure you that streamed demands, strong structure and organization into a party will gain success and a vast base, since most Americans are people afflicted by current situation. Due to incapability of the governments to address issues of the majority of the nation, success in leadership of such party is guaranteed.
I think the formation of a political party is the absolute last thing we want to do. You point out that communism has failed thus far and I do not dispute your claim. It is true that it has been because of the consolidation of power among the corrupt. However, it has been the formation of political parties that has allowed that consolidation of power to take place.
There is always a hierarchy within a political party. When a political party takes power that party's hierarchy becomes that society's hierarchy (assuming that party isn't a puppet to some other power like industrialists). We, in this country have remained more-or-less free due in large part to our two-party system that prevents either party from establishing real power.
Go ahead, create a revolutionary party. When the dust settles whoever is at the top will own you!
The only way to maintain our freedom is to maintain a loosely organized, highly democratic political movement and evolve it into a loosely organized, highly democratic society with volatile and inefficient higher levels of government.
It is true, we may spend half hour time running around like headless chickens but we will remain free.
When do we start kicking the UNIONS out of OWS?
