Ron Paul was interviewed and the title is a paraphrase of what he said. The arms race was over because the USA had won! The Soviet Union was broken up and the race was over.
The Soviet Union decide not to continue the arms race because the USA had clearly won. Business deals became the opiate of the masses of the people of the Soviet Union, because they included conditions me and millions of Americans are feeling now. Ron Paul was predicting we would go broke partly because of our defense budget.
After WWII, control of the skies was recognized as the ultimate military goal. Cyber war is significant, but need satellites.
If only we could trust our military, bypass politicians, but because the military agree, we can choose a better way, we alter things. The military immediately agrees to transparency that will not always be decided by "national security", secret decisions. The military should submit to Humanity, and we love one another, then handle the grey areas calmly.
The soviet union was a dictatorship same as the current Russia is - the same as the past U.S.S.R was. The people were all for a socialist civilization - but those who grabbed power were not.
The only reason any specific drone is not being mass produced is because innovation would make it obsolete so soon. The ability to make nukes and communications obsolete gives the ability to choose Equality, Justice, and especially LOVE one another. A world with fewer losers, less suffering, and closer to spirit. Choose!!
Here ya go - join in:
Drone warfare - end it - speak-up speak-out - get involved!
Meticulous researchers have documented that U.S. drones are killing many innocent civilians in Pakistan, Yemen and elsewhere. Drones are making the world less stable and creating new enemies. Their remoteness provides those responsible with a sense of immunity.
We're close to 100,000 signatures to ban weaponized drones. Add yours here.
Former Directors of National Intelligence Michael Flynn and Dennis Blair have called the drone wars counterproductive, as has an internal CIA report. Former Counter-Terrorism Adviser Michael Boyle agrees, as does former Vice-Chair of the Joint Chiefs of Staff General James Cartwright, and former commander of U.S. and NATO forces in Afghanistan General Stanley McChrystal.[1]
Thousands have been killed for no good reason, many of them civilians.[2] Weaponized drones are no more acceptable than land mines, cluster bombs, or chemical weapons. The world must renounce and forbid their manufacture, possession, or use. Violators must be held accountable.
The United States is moving in the wrong direction by marketing and selling weaponized drones to other nations.[3]
