Forum Post: Some Suggestions/Ideas for OWS protesters

I have a few ideas I'd like to suggest for you to put before your general assembly. Someone has probably already thought of these, but just incase you haven't:

With funds donated to OWS, perhaps you could find a small, inexpensive appartment nearby that you could rent. You could allow protesters to ROTATE time in the appartment to shower, re-charge their phones & laptops, launder their clothes, sleep in a real bed for a few hours, and just get warmed up. Just a few at a time, so you would always have a presence at the park, but also have short respite from the cold.

Also, I would like to send you some better cold-weather gear - like sleeping bags & tents. I thought I would ask my fb friends to help out. Where could I send them, an address?? (having an apartment could help out with this as well - you would have an address that the post office could deliver to!)

perhaps you could post for us a list of things you need? while many of us may not be able to afford to send you money, we still want to help out and to show our support, and people might HAVE, laying around the house or in storage, items that you could use, and we would be happy to send.

Also: how about finding information on locations of homeless shelters and drug addiction treatment centers? I've read some reports about the police instructing the homeless to "take it to Zucotti" - just trying to cause you problems. So perhaps you could put those people, if & when they show up, into cabs. Send them to the proper locations where they could really get some help.

Or better still: Apply to the State for funds as a Non-Profit Organization to provide shelter, food, and counselling for the homeless & drug-addicted!! Send out a Open Call for medical and psychiatric professionals to donate their time to the OWS movement by coming to the park on their day off and donating their time and skills.
