Forum Post: Some Clear Messages

1) When asked by reporters about why there seems to be no coherent msg among the Occupy Wall St. crowd, respond with, "Maybe you should find another angle for your story. I know it may be a little challenging to write a story about the excitement of a REAL grass roots populist movement (in contrast to the astroturfed TEA party), but if you're a REAL journalist, I'm sure you can do it.

2) Some things most of us are for:

 - vigorously prosecute, for fraud, investment bankers who sold bundled, securitized mortgages to their clients while selling them short with their own accounts. If the CEOs knew this was going on, they should be jailed for fraud;
 - pass a constitutional amendment removing the "personhood" status of corporations;
- reinstate the Glass-Steagall Act to separate mortgage and investment banking again;
- tax capital gains at the same rates as wages, with the exception of investment in the research and development of renewable energy sources;
- close the loopholes that allow the off-shoring of corporate income;
- force banks to renegotiate mortgage interest rates;
- offer a Medicare-for-all option to small businesses.

3) Some things we're against:

- subsidies for oil and gas, including wars to secure oil production in foreign countries;
- freedom of movement for international capital to follow the cheapest labor and the least restrictive environmental laws, but tight controls on the mobility of labor.
