Forum Post: Soldiers part of the 99%

Within the next 4 years 50,000 soldiers will be getting cut from the military.

I am in the army and been in since 2008. I am one of soon to be many to be cut... and the start of this massive loss in our national defense.

I fully support this 'peaceful' movement and feel like its been a long time coming, I'm happy to see our generation waking up and putting down what society says we need and must have and whats in this week, and picking up signs and heading to the streets. keep up the good work and keep the faith. This movement is only as strong as your faith in it to change and succeed.

I'm originally from NY and will be heading home very soon and plan to take to the streets when i can make it down there.

Thought this would stir up some good conversation since a big part of the protest is the war/troop and bringing them home

You will find good company at Liberty Square. I have spoken with at least a half dozen service men the past two days who share your concerns.

That's really good to hear actually. I was kind of worried about going down there and getting a reaction from some people for being prior military. Which is kind of dumb I guess since for once this is a protest that anyone from any walk of life can participate in.

is this cut part of the contract?

[-] 1 points by diggs88 (6) 13 years ago

no it has just been recently brought up in the past few months, and is being put into affect this month which is the start of the federal fiscal year.

Exactly, and welcome home, for many more people will come to your side when you are proactive (for “new” Business & Government solutions), instead of reactive (against “old” Business & Government solutions), which is why what we most immediately need is a comprehensive “new” strategy that implements all our various socioeconomic demands at the same time, regardless of party, and although I'm all in favor of taking down today's ineffective and inefficient Top 10% Management System of Business & Government, there's only one way to do it – by fighting bankers as bankers ourselves; that is, using a Focused Direct Democracy organized according to our current Occupations & Generations. Consequently, I have posted a 1-page Summary of the Strategically Weighted Policies, Organizational Operating Structures, and Tactical Investment Procedures necessary to do this at:

because we need 100,000 “support clicks” at AmericansElect.org to support a Presidential Candidate -- such as any given political opportunist you'd like to draft -- in support of the above bank-focused platform.

Most importantly, remember, as cited in the first link, that as Bank Owner-Voters in your 1 of 48 "new" Business Investment Groups (or "new" Congressional Committees) you become the "new" Congress replacing the "old" Congress according to your current Occupation & Generation, called a Focused Direct Democracy.

Therefore, any Candidate (or Leader) therein, regardless of party, is a straw man, a puppet, just like today, for it's the STRATEGY – the sequence of steps – that the people organize themselves under, in Military Internet Formation of their Individual Purchasing & Group Investment Power, that's important. In this, sequence is key.

Why? Because there are Natural Social Laws – in mathematical sequence – that are just like Natural Physical Laws, such as the Law of Gravity. You must follow those Natural Social Laws or the result will be Injustice, War, etc.

The FIRST step in Natural Social Law is to CONTROL the Banks as Bank Owner-Voters. If you do not, you will inevitably be UNJUSTLY EXPLOITED by the Top 10% Management Group of Business & Government who have a Legitimate Profit Motive, just like you, to do so.

Consequently, you have no choice but to become Candidates (or Leaders) yourselves as Bank Owner-Voters according to your current Occupation & Generation.

So please JOIN the 2nd link so we can make our support clicks at AmericansElect.org when called for, at exactly the right time, by an e-mail from that group, in support of the above the bank-focused platform. If so, then you will see and feel how your goals can be accomplished within the above strategy as a “new” Candidate (or Leader) of your current Occupation & Generation.

As a vet, I am not and will not be one of the 99 percent. We have given you the opportunity - you have to earn your place. If you aren't stepping up, shut-up.

that statement is both correct and reasonable, there is no place for comments like that here.

[-] 1 points by OkayAndYou (20) 13 years ago

Everyone has ups and downs; OWS isn't the cure all, but you can say whatever you want - and take the comments of others, or be quiet.

[-] 1 points by diggs88 (6) 13 years ago

which comment is that?

FYI. I used to be a hard ass too. Then I learned. I learned to listen. I learned to care. I learned to be peaceful. It's an inner revolution that is wise for some of us to take if and when we are strong enough to do so. We usually become a hard ass from emulating someone whom we admire or just becoming what has been modeled for us. We are usually mad about something and feel stronger when we are that way. But in fact we are weaker. Weaker in the long run. So much stronger when we become peaceful amongst our fellow brothers and sisters. All of them. Peace.

It is better to teach sone how to fish than it is to give them a fish.

[-] 1 points by Cindy (197) 13 years ago

And sometimes easier to use excuses for not being generous than to be generous. I've just been watching the videos that half a million of others have watched too on you tube about the starving women men and children in Africa. Looks like not very much teaching to fish or giving of the fish. Sad really.

[-] 1 points by OkayAndYou (20) 13 years ago

So what are you doing about it? What are you willing to do about it, besides criticizing others for not doing something? Lots of you tube videos have more hits. And more often than not government giving is going part of the 99% that isn't all that interested in fishing, or teaching someone to fish.

[-] 1 points by Cindy (197) 13 years ago

Right now, I give to the folks in my own area as much as possible. That's a beginning?

[-] 1 points by OkayAndYou (20) 13 years ago

And for now that may be all you can do, but don't believe delivering food or working in a shelter is going to change their lives or the lives of their children. Changing behavior by changing how they think will give them a chance; teaching people to rely on themselves is the first step. I do know; helping isn't easy.

Attacking someone generally triggers a flight or fight response. Given the current economic climate I find myself working harder and smarter to increase my value to my employer - and I am actively seeking new, better opportunities I think I can be a game changer when I own the game or become a player the game needs to be viable.

[-] 1 points by diggs88 (6) 13 years ago

how are people suppose to think or act when the majority of the ''99%'ers" are people who had jobs and college education and still either got laid off or cant get employed.

your right changing how people think will impact how they act, what do you think this mass protest is trying to do, even if half the people protesting dont realize it. Its changing how people think all over the world and its forcing more and more people everyday (including the "1%") to take a long hard look how everything is shaping out to be, especially some of the decisions these banks and corporations have made.

Joining the Peace Corp can help in those ways I guess.
