Social Threefolding is a sociological theory that suggests increasing the independence (separation) of society's three primary realms (economy, politics and culture) in such a way that those three realms can mutually correct each other in an ongoing process.
The movement aims for:
- Equality of rights in political life
- Freedom in cultural life
- Associative cooperation in economic life
It originated out of the philosophy of Anthroposophy founded by Rudolf Steiner. Steiner held that it is socially destructive when one of the three spheres attempts to dominate the others.
Examples:
Theocracy means a cultural impulse dominates economy and politics
Conventional shareholder capitalism means economic life dominates the polity and culture
State socialism means government dominates culture and economy.
After finding the idea very interesting.... how do we go in that direction from where we are?
definitely is.....at first difficult to understand but can be likened to a reflection of a healthy human being that has three systems that work autonomously but together, reflecting principles of freedom in culture (thinking, education, research, individuality, spirituality etc. - the head) equality in the social sphere of rights and law (politics, relationships - the heart) and bother/sisterhood in the realm of eco-nomics (supply and production, our eco-logy etc. - the hand), one of our current global problems is that the economic realm is advocating 'free trade' which actually causes a massive disruption to the overall balance of the whole.....all that has happened is that the principle of freedom, which as a human principle is valid and correct, should be applied only to the cultural life, not the economic. There is tons of info about this all over the net etc. and if you can see through the common critics and see that social threefolding of the economic, political, cultural structures could offer the best of all current philosophies and order them into the places that work synergetically for the whole human community all for the better. How the Occupy movement could really develop itself and deepen its understanding of how this could serve as, perhaps, the solution being looked for in this 21st century wave towards integration and emergence to a new paradigm remains to be seen, but as yet I have not seen anything that comes close. We have to keep searching and keep focussed because those that have will not want us to find a real and viable alternative to what they have now! Lets keep at it peacefully with heart, hand and heads together.
