Is there evidence that they are complicit in this, or are you calling for a boycott just because they own the land?

Love the irony: http://www.bloomberg.com/news/2011-10-13/wall-street-protesters-can-t-return-gear-to-park-after-cleaning-nypd-says.html

I am referring to paragraph four: "It (Brookfield) also established rules against camping, lying on benches, and using tarps and tents"

So you are against the company because they have usage rules for the land that OWS ignored, and now action is being taken to enforce those rules?

[-] 1 points by dankpoet (425) 13 years ago

Do you know if those rules were predate OWS?

According to the New York Times article, they predate OWS by several months. If you would like, I could conduct a search to see if I can find the link to that article.

So does that mean the NYT is spreading misinformation?

[-] 1 points by UnifiedVoice (53) 13 years ago

No, like I said, I must have misread the article, as it states at the beginning that the rules are new.

Thanks, wanted to double-check. I re-threaded I thought it so important to get this out there. After all, this is why we're here in the first place.

I would appreciate one, thanks.

My mistake, you're right... After taking another look at the article it specifically says that the rules against tents and camping equipment are novel. Here's the link anyway: http://cityroom.blogs.nytimes.com/2011/10/13/told-to-leave-protesters-talk-pre-emptive-strategy/?ref=nyregion.

Wow, that's DIRTY COLLUSION of corporates and government right there. BROOKFIELD AND BLOOMBERG, Anti-American Partners in Repression. As a public official and a public company they are particular sensitive to brand attacks. We need to get some banners out there for the cameras tomorrow.

Were you, anyone associated with you, or anyone influenced by you planning on taking office space from Brookfield any time soon? No? Now how much of an impact do you think that you boycotting them will have? lol

Not trying to be mean about it but you guys really need to bring in the A team. At least somebody who has some clue about these things. The rookies just ain't getting it done. You embarass yourselves with stuff like this.

Honestly, I was just getting the topic up for discussion. So that I and anyone else could get better informed. But I wouldn't be so quick to doubt the depth, breath, or wealth of people sympathetic to OWS.
