We need to get everyone to stop using credit cards and debit cards. Everytime a card is swiped a bank makes between 1.5 and 3 percent of the sales total. The banks are making millions of dollars every day on sales transactions! If we all started using cash we would have a huge impact on these greedy entities. We should all start boycotting large unethical corporations also. These are two simple ways that the 99% could have a huge impact on the 1%. Not everyone can be part of the physical protests in the streets, but everyone can make changes in where and how they spend their money.
Fractal Deriavative of Peace Protest Marchers and Jobs. Every Protest now has Job Seeking division. The jobs are intern jobs with Political Science Format.
For Example OWS Intellligence is a job OWS Presentation is a job OWS Legal is a job OWS methods of mobile phone co opting is a training job things like that ....
Good post, unclesquiddy. I've been railing against the frivolous use of plastic for years for the reasons you state. Most people don't realize credit cards make money on both sides of the equation and the use of them is partly responsible for the increase in prices since the stores pass their cost of handling plastic on to the customer. And the idea of not buying from the unethical corporations is slowly gathering steam, at least in a few areas, like this forum. Thanks for the post.
I suppose this goes without saying, but -- have you occupied your local credit union?
I never owned a credit card until I was fifty. My credit score was 780+ and since then I have lost everything. I am a frugal person and yet somehow when I tried to play "their" game I got screwed.
I cut up all my credit cards a couple years ago and will never own one again. I use local banks and keep tabs on who owns them, if they get absorbed by the big banks then I will go to the credit unions.
