Mr. President, you say to the protesters, " You're the reason I ran for office", but the man I voted for seems to be gone. He has been replaced by a coward who is too afraid of the pollsters to speak his mind. I read both your books, I believed in you, and you have deserted America in her time of need. Mr. President, a baby died today. An unborn child was kicked and pepper sprayed to death by police thugs. A man had his skull cracked by a tear gas missile. A man had his spleen lacerated. A group of peaceful students, our children, were pepper sprayed point blank. Countless others have been beaten, jailed, sprayed, abused, insulted and terrorized. Yet you remain silent. You spoke eloquently on the freedom of speech the Egyptians should be entitled to. Where are our freedoms? Where is our dignity?

Where did our President go?

Pertello, the man you voted for never existed. You did not vote for a man. You, like me and millions of others, voted for a brand.

The 2008 Ad Age New Brand Marketer of the Year Award went to Obama. He beat out both Apple and Coors to win this prestigious award.

You're right, monjon, the Obama we voted for NEVER existed : he marketed a PERSONA, a completely false image of himself.

And that disingenousness produced VERY BAD KARMA for him - and I suspect he will be paying very dearly and facing VERY tough times. If I were him, I would PRAY not to get a second term!

[-] 3 points by shill (60) 12 years ago

I voted for Obama & for the last 3 years he has really pissed me off. In the last couple of months he has been fighting for his job bill & not giving in at all. I think he finally got some balls. If he doesn't give in to the gob again, I will vote for him.
That being said I really don't want him or any other Dem saying anything about the movement because I don't want the 99% taking over like the gob took over the tea party.

I would also like to see term limits for all government job.

[-] 0 points by Pertello (80) 12 years ago

Um...GOP?

[-] 2 points by shill (60) 12 years ago

I guess I really should proof read before posting. Thanks:)

[-] 1 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

Gob works too though.

[-] 3 points by occupyin2012 (8) 12 years ago

Why would we want the president to speak. It is all just lies anyways.

[-] 2 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

Word up. I held my nose and voted for him, but I stopped listening to him ages ago because all he's done since then is disappoint me.

[-] 2 points by ScrewyL (809) 12 years ago

I didn't vote for Obama.

I KNEW this is what he was going to do because his voting record prior to election was nothing but a long list of broken promises, and his education and training under Saul explicitly specialized in decieving the masses for political power; BIG surprise.

I wish you all had done the research I did before you voted, but hey.. Obama Girl sure was cute huh?

[-] 2 points by rockyracoon2 (276) 12 years ago

he is puppet controlled by corporations and other elite. he can barely breathe w/o getting OK first. he is silent because that's what they desire, while underneath they distribute more riot gear.

have a look into his eyes next time, look closely..

[-] 2 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

Bah. He's just playing his part.

They tell us the democrats won the election. The democrat is an ineffectual puffball. We grow to despise them. We vote the bastards out, or so we're told. For now the republicans have won. They are ruthless and stick it to us ten ways to Sunday. We grow to despise them, and yearn for hope, a more beautiful future. Those democrats, they sure have the vision thing going....

Lather, rinse, repeat.

Two sides of the same coin.

"An unborn child was kicked and pepper sprayed to death by police thugs." ]This requires more information. if they caused a miscarriage, it's something the world needs to know about.

[-] 2 points by alouis (1511) from New York, NY 12 years ago

http://www.washingtonpost.com/blogs/blogpost/post/pepper-spray-blamed-by-occupy-seattle-protester-for-her-miscarriage/2011/11/22/gIQApbbBlN_blog.html

I thank you for that information. it is horrible what the cops have got away with. I beleive in woman's choice. She chose to have a child, and to participate in a legal non violent protest. Some cops decided to assault her and that apparently resulted in the death of a fetus against the mother's will.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

Don't you mean BABY? I know it makes it easier to kill them if you call them a fetus but it was a BABY. Say it,go ahead,BABY.

[-] 2 points by Violetarojo (119) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I agree I am looking for information and glanced down and see that a link has been posted. Hope it has the information about this offense.

[-] 3 points by alouis (1511) from New York, NY 12 years ago

It is about the assault. According to the report the assualt was perpetrated by forces of law and order in Seattle, Washington, USA, and doctors indicated the assault caused the miscarriage..

[-] 2 points by Violetarojo (119) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Found it! Thank you. I am in the process of posting in response to the vile statements being made about Jennifer Fox because she went to the assembly and marched knowing that she was pregnant!

[-] 2 points by alouis (1511) from New York, NY 12 years ago

Yes, this really ought to be a big deal worldwide.

[-] 2 points by Violetarojo (119) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

I agree! I am appalled by the posters that are somehow trying to place blame oh her for attending the march while pregnant. My heart breaks a lil more each day as I read the stories posted here and at other sites about the police brutality and abuse and our countries relaxed response to it. History is repeating itself even though millions swore it never would.

[-] 2 points by alouis (1511) from New York, NY 12 years ago

It is true that attending a legal and peaceful demonstration against things as they are is dangerous because the cops go berserk at the behest of people like Michael Bloomberg. That's the logic of those who blame Jennifer Fox. The logic extends to anyone who has any health issue that could be pushed over the edge by a billyclub, a fist or a blast of pepperspray. These cops really are over the top.

[-] 2 points by Violetarojo (119) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Just leaving your home to buy groceries or for any reason has always posed a threat of danger and death for many who live in government housing or the projects. I am going to NY to be with OWS and help in any capacity that I can. My mom and sister worry and have both asked me the 'what if' this or that happens to you. My reply remains the same, no matter what happens to me I will be doing what I know in my heart I have to do. I could get hurt right here outside my front door just walking my dogs. I have never been one to be motivated by fear. I go with my families prayers and blessings, as it should be. After reading about what happened to Jennifer Fox if I were pregnant I would still march. I can not say why Jennifer was at that particular rally/march but I am sure just like everyone else the common factor is being a part of a movement that is making a stand against everything that is corrupt, dark and evil in hopes of securing what little light, love and hope is left in this world for our future and those of our children and our children’s children and so forth. Is that worth fighting for, absolutely! Is it worth dying for, absolutely! Was that what Jennifer Fox thought would happen as she set on the pathway that led her to that moment, to the death of her unborn child, absolutely not. Even when we know that there is the potential for violence and harm there are those things in life that are greater than the knowing in the moment of what is to come. My heart and prayers go out to her, I love her for her courage and strength and willingness to march, as many are doing, I do not judge her for her decision to march that ended in the loss of her unborn child.

People, let's not forget to indict the mainstream media who has a big hand in forming the narrative of our governments inactions courtesy of the 1%.

[-] 1 points by jbrowdy (3) 12 years ago

I totally agree with you! The President needs to remember his roots as a community organizer and stand with the people.

[-] 1 points by Violetarojo (119) from Washington, DC 12 years ago

Very well put! Thank you indeed! Its always easier to tell than act, our president is a perfect example of what Jesus said, its not what goes in but what comes out that defiles. God bless you!

[-] 1 points by EndTheFed214 (113) 12 years ago

its very sad that those things happened to those people. but if a women was pregant than she shouldnt put herself in that position. its very sad

[-] 1 points by barb (835) 12 years ago

Excuse me, they have the right to a peaceful protest without physical retaliation from police. The woman that was pregnant believed that to be her right and it was violated by the police.

[-] 1 points by EndTheFed214 (113) 12 years ago

like i said it is very sad. but after everyone has seen the cops go off on peacefull protesters i blame the women as much as the cops. she knew what could happen but choose to beleive that she was a expection. the cops are wrong. but she knew what the cops could do

[-] 1 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

THANK YOU, Pertello, for speaking so eloquently on behalf of TENS OF MILLIONS of us who feel BETRAYED by a President who parrotted all over the country "Yes we can" but who obviously CAN'T or WON'T.

[-] 0 points by truth2p0wer (135) 12 years ago

I'm personally upset that Obama didn't go further on some fronts and think he went way to far on others but the truth of the matter is he is the only viable candidate for the job. The left can feel betrayed if they want but many of the promises he made on the campaign trail have been kept attempted or killed by the opposition and some DINOs. So at the end of the day the left has be happy that DADT was repealed, the war in Iraq is over, private sector job growth is up even though the GOP keeps killing public sector jobs and a version of healthcare reform was passed.

So I guess the question is... who else will those tens of millions vote for?

[-] 0 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

NEITHER the Repugnants or the Demagogues! A THIRD Party, please!

[-] 1 points by truth2p0wer (135) 12 years ago

If you run a third party candidate you make the #OWS look weak when the candidate loses and make OWS the villains when the GOP finishes destroying everything in this country from Unions to Child labor laws. No. I still say get a handful of congressmen/women and maybe a few senators and begin building a coalition with like minded Dems or Repubs.

[-] 0 points by TIOUAISE (2526) 12 years ago

A lot can happen during the coming year and I suspect a lot WILL happen... I expect another financial crisis and an awakening of the American people from long decades of slumber... Things should get very "interesting", in a PEACEFUL way, I hope.

[-] 1 points by truth2p0wer (135) 12 years ago

in this respect you're no better then the republicans who have sacrificed American jobs and economic recovery in a vile attempt to get back the presidency and control of senate. Which re-enforces my belief that anything below the executive is fair game. But betting on a third party to take the white house is about as smart voting for the guy who's name you can't mention around here or Ross Perot.

[-] 1 points by rickMoss (435) 12 years ago

The what's wrong with us. Did you really think a speech was going fix the huge mess we're in? Well neither is protesting. Welcome to the real world. We are not in charge of our own country.

Get over it. He never was your president. He is a consummate liar only following a personal goal to be President. The people never mattered to him and still don't.

[-] 0 points by kickstart (12) 12 years ago

i think that we need a deffinition of what is public and private....if i pay taxes (and i do) on schools, roads, parks, and courthouses that entitles me to voice my opinion in any of those areas. Just like it does for anyone else who lives in this country. WITHOUT THREAT! Untill we as a people quit trying to DEFINE what this movement is and just move forward this will go no where.....21st century revolution.....

[-] 1 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

No, really, you want people to have the right to, say, block traffic from entering the Lincoln Tunnel during rush hour? It's a public tunnel after all. Just anyone at all, pissed off about something, anything really, can just bring any roadway, mass transit, whatever, to a halt, because he feels like it, and this should be legal, and the police should have no authority to remove these people? They should be allowed to just kind of stay there until whatever is making them angry gets resolved to their satisfaction? Anyone could disrupt the workings of the courts, or children's education (schools? Really, people should be able to protest inside a public school? Really?) Or am I reading too much into what you wrote?

[-] 1 points by kickstart (12) 12 years ago

it is a simple as this, as a tax paying citizen of the USA i have the right to assemble in any public area that i choose WITHOUT VIOLENCE! i dont think you really understand that the status quo is not working, our rights are violated constantly. and if i takes people walking down a street or standing in front of a school or court house (as i never stated inside that was YOU!) then that is the right i have. as well you have the right to disagree with what im saying....the intention here is simple. what is and has been happening is unacceptable...

[-] 1 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

Do you believe you have the right to block others from entering & exiting buildings or from using roads, tunnels, bridges, etc for their intended purpose? And if your answer is yes, do you then also believe the same holds true for every person, even ones with whom you ardently disagree? Nazi skin heads can prevent you from striving down your street and pulling into your driveway because the street is public and they have the right therefore to assemble there and block traffic ? Is that what you are saying? You will note these are questions I'm asking to try to better understand your point - as they were last time as well.

[-] 1 points by kickstart (12) 12 years ago

once again people like yourself are taking this to the level of violence and wow including a Nazi statement....let me ask you a question, if you need to get into you home, do you violently kick a hole in the wall or do you just open the door? these people in a non violent way are massing together, to get to work walk around them...

[-] 1 points by me2 (534) 12 years ago

I'm asking questions to understand your point. A group of people have assembled on tour street and are intentionally blocking traffic. They're just sitting there. You can't get your car through, they won't move. Do they have the right to stay there indefinitely, keeping you from getting your car to your home, or not?

Please don't say you'd park down the block and walk. I am not asking what you would do. I'm asking if you believe they have the right to do this because it is a public street.

I asked a bunch of questions and you haven't actually answered any of them. You seen to think I'm attacking you or something. I'm just asking questions but you're not answering them.

[-] 1 points by kickstart (12) 12 years ago

so if there is a group of "people" blocking traffic should we spray them? should we beat them? should we spit on them and call them dirty hippie? or should we ask them simply what can we do to resolve this.....to answer your question, come to a resolution without the use of force. because of the advent of the internet it is easy to sit and complain via a keyboard. Many things come to my mind, womens rights movements, black rights movements, gay rights movements.......all of which have fought for what they wanted, now people are tired of the way things are (imagine that) and are doing what they can to change what is happening.

too answer the ONE question you raised yes i believe that anyone has the right to do what they feel is right, WITHOUT VIOLENCE. i am not condoning it on either side, a person in YOUR WAY seems to be a thorn in your side, thats the point. they are not threating you or anyone else, they are just sitting there, so yeah park your car and get out and walk...

[-] -1 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

That's how you know you've won, they don't answer the questions.

[-] 0 points by Perspective (-243) 12 years ago

You do not have the "right" to infringe on other people's rights. Fairly simple actually.

[-] 1 points by kickstart (12) 12 years ago

ahhhhh manifest destiny comes to mind, do as i say and not as i do comes as well. should we push them aside to allow for prosperity? disregard their first amendment rights and do what i say is simple as well
