Good idea. You are not the only one thinking of this solution. Someday perhaps we can do all politics online, and there will be no curruption in congress because there will be no congress. Here is something similar: Digital democracy proposal from the 15-M Spanish Revolution. Three viable proposals of direct participation essential for citizens to recover the sovereignty that politicians are not giving them.
A system of PERMANENT PLEBISCITE of the citizens additional to or substitutive of Congress, Senate, Autonomies, City councils…, using computers to vote with confidential identification, one citizen one vote. A system to veto laws and decisions of the politicians which are not accepted by the citizens.
A system of REVOCATION OF POLITICIANS BY PLEBISCITE, also by computer, to vote for permanent control of elected political authorities, councilmen, etc… so they can be dismissed immediately when they lose the confidence of the citizens, expressed by means of permanent votes.
A system of CITIZEN’S INITIATIVES WITH PLEBISCITE, to pass citizen´s initiatives through computers by all citizens, to be approved without the politicians being able to prevent it only with their votes.
Those are all great ideas, but I am always concerned about the ability of these online voting mechanisms being hacked. It is a noble and necessary cause to have true democracy, one person one vote, but our online systems aren't secure enough yet. At least having a method to propose laws for ordinary citizens, but having those laws still passed (for sure) by the voters makes it more secure. Please spread this petition around if you can or if you are interested in advancing these ideas of true democracy of the people, not representative democracy.
You don't think Wall Stree does not have enough money to buy a 3rd party, a 4th, a 5th? Do you still believe in Santa Claus?
Having a system like this would allow us to pass popularly supported ideas like reforming campaign finance and would stimulate direct government discourse with the citizenry. Please tell me why you think this is not preferential to the system we have now, where the elites make and pass the laws, not the people.
We can't be sure of anything unless we try. We have tried democracy, and it worked better than whast we had before, until it was bought by the rich and stopped working. Science is based on experiments. You can't be sure of anything except through experience.
The message needs to be to elect a 3rd party to fight the government that is bribed. Then changing campaign finance will work. Telling crooks taking bribes to stop is ridiculous. read more -- http://overthecoals.blogspot.com/
