Forum Post: Shut Down Wall Street!

Instead of contemplating moving the protest away from Wall Street, which would deflate it in the long run, it should be intensified in lower Manhattan. The goal ought to be to shut down Wall Street by getting so many people in lower Manhattan during business hours that those working in the financial towers simply could not get into the buildings. Bill McKibben is trying this strategy by surrounding the White House in Washington, and it could work in NYC. This could be done peacefully; it would require enormous numbers, but that could be achieved, and it would provide a new and more powerful goal.
