I understand the desire of OWS to begin a movement with no leaders because it is exactly contradicting to what we are against. However, I sincerely believe that OWS has fallen off course and is no longer a sign of hope for so many in America. Do you remember when so many people were excited about this? Do you remember when corporations and even the government were concerned with the uprising of the 99%? The "peasants", in their eyes, were finally making their nightmares come true! It was a truly inspirational time. Now, most of the protesters have decided to go back home, to give up on the cause; mainly because there was no cause. OWS still lacks the leadership and the constitution to demand specific actions be taken. No country or organization has ever survived without somebody calling the shots. Somebody needs to let the 1% know exactly what it is that we want. Political party, race, gender and socioeconomical status should NOT be a factor. Can we please get some leadership? Can we please allow this movement to prosper into all that it can be? We need to concede to the fact that we need direct guidelines...and we need it now.
We have leaders who pretend they aren't. The Mayday and Midsummer protests originated somewhere in the OWS hierarchy. They sure as hell didn't consult anyone here.
If OWS can't get it together then some smart people here need to start an off-shoot of OWSers with some kind of leadership structure with a simple plan of achievable goals. this OWS is nothing more then a clearinghouse of information opinions and plain old jibberish there isn't a single plan that anyone can get behind
Personally, I think the movement needs a leader, or at least an official spokesperson, in order to interact and communicate with the rest of the world more effectively.
Possibly an IQ test to determine who the smartest is and make them the boss?
Everyone KWKO just arrived on a boat load of bullshit.
After seeing the B of A protest and the followup interview I'd say there are at least some people actively involved that are on the right track. I like the top-down approach. Myself, being an armchair quarterback and a troll/shill for the old school socialist cause I prefer the bottom-up approach and I'd like to see the minimum wage raised. I'd say no, no leaders.
I still can't figure out why the OWS claim they are the 99% ers when in fact maybe 0.00001% are protesting something - everything - anything.
Now it is possible that their gripes about todays economy and government do resonate with a lot of people that's where it ends.
Beyond that the OWS have no support and it showes with the protests and how many people show up.
The percentages chosen, 99 and 1 aren't important. What's important is that there are only 2. This symbolizes the coming 2-class society.
If that's the case, then why the 99% claim. Why not just say the "have" and have not" classes.
There are still a vast majority of the people in this country who are doing just fine and paying all their bills with money in the bank - and they aren't part of the 1% - they are people who made smart choices in their liives.
Those are the people who know how to make things work for them. The X and Y generation are out of touch with how to do this.
You can blame their upbringing for being given everything and now that they have to face the "cruel world" they don't know how to deal with it.
Both the schools and colleges do not do a good job of teaching how to be independent.
I was going to mention have and have nots. This would be more telling. The 99-1 shouldn't be taken literally but it will be by many.
