While very little mention has been made about this in the news, a date is fast approaching where the ILA, with the support of numerous other maritime labor unions around the country, will be launching a national strike. This will span from Maine to the Gulf of Mexico at a minimum. Meetings have already occurred where protests zones have been planned out by the police for the possible strike around the NYC/NJ ports, which at the moment will be in the ports in front of the terminals.
Here is an article on the general matter: http://www.baltimoresun.com/business/bs-bz-longshoremen-talks-20120918,0,7519555.story
Has OWS contacted anyone at the ILA about supporting this? If not, their contact info is:
International Longshoremen's Assoc., AFL-CIO, CLC 5000 West Side Avenue North Bergen, NJ 07047 (212)-425-1200 FAX: 212-425-2928
You should e-mail this info to : general@occupywallst.org
